If I lived in a big British mansion, and had piles of money, I would buy that desk, and the burled (marled?) sideboard, and scads of other things I saw that you didn't note lol! Thanks for the tour!

You're correct, it would take many days to properly explore. Another tip on old mirrors, place the point of a pencil against the mirror surface, if a space between the pencil point and its reflection, it is an old mirror, no space, it is more modern glass mirror. Looks like a portrait of my '67 VW bus, except mine was blue with a white top and an unfortunate habit of blowing engines on long car voyages to the east coast, Florida, a coast too far.

A few comments on camera panning too fast. Remedy - go to top right of video screen select the Settings button, scroll down to Playback Speed & select 0.75%, or whatever suits best.

Thanks David…love this type of video. I personally find meandering around a good antiques centre very therapeutic. Watching you do the same as I enjoy a cuppa is both a great learning experience and relaxing. 👍

My wife’s aunt used to live just down the road from Hemswell before moving. Often visited the place and may have accidentally bought a few bits and bobs over the years! It’s quite a challenge trying to see it all.

Fantastic place that, some beautiful items there. Definitely high end expensive antiques, somewhere you’d go if you had money and were just buying to keep.

Wow, great looking place. I’d love to visit it. Lot of chippendale chairs. I have an 18th century chair. An auction house said it would probably make £80-£100 in auction. Interesting how much price they are selling them.

Crikey Harper, looks like you need a day, several thousand quid, and a bloody big truck for that place. Amazing!

Overwhelming amount of items. I think I am more suited to little cosy antique shops but some beautiful and interesting items - thanks for sharing so much information. Not sure how you can avoid it in such a large building but quite giddy making the amount/speed of panning around you have to do!

Walking through the antique centre talking about things you are passionate about reminds me of the way Mr Combs does his videos. Maybe you could try doing a long form video talking about antiques being sold on LiveAuctioneers and eBay like the way he does as well.

Any concentration of Oriental antiques, incl ceramics? Reminds me of Malvern antiques (which obviously has more separate shops, more spread out) with so much concentrated into a comparatively small area. Prices look high end retail.

Yes, lots of Oriental sections. more videos following…you’ll see. cheers

I love Hemswell! I spent the day there and a bonus was that there was also an outside antique fair on the same day. I come to the UK frequently but your videos make me want to relocate permanently!

Holy guacamole! I"m a piker when it comes to some antiques; I hope part two gets into the jewelry. 05:05 Probably light mourning (gray with black) one reason it survived.(did the dealer say Wedding? Might have been both. Daily drivers didn't survive as often as single-use garments.) 08:22 I thought Indonesian at first, but the bullion embroidery saddle says "India" like no other. 09:50 That glass vase you mentioned...Stuart????? 21:07 To call that desk taste-specific would be an understatement. Green Man? Gryphons? (Do I like it? You've have to pay me to take it!) Can't wait to see what else is sitting around in those buildings begging someone to make off with it.

Great to see. But you need to pan a bit slower.
@april5666
@april5666 Жыл бұрын
Yes, please slow down a little bit on your pans. I'm sure it is hard to do, but too quick back and forth means we really can't focus on items we might want to see via pause. Your stops at items of interest was perfect, especially being sure to include the prices. What an unbelievable place -- so many treasures and unusual items. Thank you for sharing.

Oh dear, an Empire silhouette is what they wore in the Regency era, not Victorian. It’s what Josephine Bonaparte wore for example.

Still referred to as the empire silhouette later in the Victorian period when corsets became very fashionable to pinch the waist in even further to exaggerate the Empire Silhouette!
