One Machine Tackles all
Welcome again to Nad’s Home Tools! Today we are going to make an entire machine from scratch. Creating a homemade table sander is a versatile project that can assist with various tasks like wood cutting, metal rust removal, coconut shell polishing, glass design, resin jewelry polishing, and metal polishing.
Today’s video will show you the whole process of making the machine that is fitted inside a homemade wooden frame. This video gives tips on which 0.3 to 4 mm drill chuck to use in reference to the grub screw on the shaft joint adapter. We have used Bed Rail Bracket to make the frame of the machine sturdy. A Titanium Step Drill Bit has been used to bore hole in the thick bracket through which the motor is attached using Allen keys. The Motor Speed controller is connected to a Dc Power Jack Female Connector with nut. CD cover has been used with Sticky Super Glue to make a cover for the motor and controller to avoid dust and to give it a complete look. Drill chuck is attached to the motor and all detachable heads must also be securely attached each time. The entire sanding machine must be mounted on a sturdy and stable base at a comfortable height.
Using the Table Sander for Various Tasks
1. Wood Cutting:
Use coarse grit sanding discs for shaping and cutting wood. Ensure to have proper dust extraction or wear a mask to avoid inhaling sawdust.
2. Metal Rust Removal:
Use medium to coarse grit sanding discs to remove rust from metal surfaces. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when working with metal.
3. Coconut Shell Polishing:
Start with a coarse grit to shape the shell, then use progressively finer grits to achieve a polished finish.
4. Glass Design:
Use fine grit sanding discs for delicate glass work. Ensure to use water or a coolant to prevent the glass from overheating and cracking.
5. Resin Jewelry Polish:
Start with medium grit to remove any major imperfections, then switch to fine and ultra-fine grits to achieve a smooth, polished finish.
6. Metal Polish:
Use a range of grits, starting from medium to fine, to polish metal surfaces. For a mirror finish, consider using a polishing compound.
Always use protective gear (safety glasses, gloves, mask) while executing these tasks.
