The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group (meaning, of or relating to the Nile River) of semi-nomadic people located in Kenya and northern Tanzania. The Maasai are among the best known of African ethnic groups, due to their residence near the many game parks of East Africa, and their distinctive customs and dress.
According to their own oral history, the Maasai originated from the lower Nile valley, north of Lake Turkana (Northwest Kenya) and began migrating south around the 15th century, arriving in a long trunk of land stretching from what is now northern Kenya to what is now central Tanzania between the 17th and late 18th century.

I talked once to marc canham (producer of the toca race diver ost and many other osts). I had a similar question and he told me a little bit a out late 90s early 2000 game music. It was all about sample packs for your digital Keyboard Workstation. Early internet provided a wild west for ripping and pirating and you ended up with 1000+ packs with unknown origin. The rest was just sticking pieces together or reproducing a melodie. The original samples are impossible to find but similar sounding music is a question of searching...
