AMAZING, ANTIQUE & VERY RARE 1960s Otis/Staley?? Traction Elevators in Lower Manhattan, New York, NY

As I'm sure everyone who watches this channel is well aware, yesterday was Andrew Reams (aka ‪@DieselDucy‬) 47th Birthday! And of course, we need to Celebrate! I tried to get this video up and ready yesterday on time for Andrew's Birthday, but due to glitches with Premiere Pro, I wasn't able to get it to properly export on time. But now, the video is ready, and since Andrew Reams' favorite kind of elevators are specifically Vintage & Historic Automatics & NOT Manuals, I figured this would be the perfect video & set of elevators to Celebrate his Birthday with! Especially since this is a set of elevators Andrew himself discovered almost exactly 10 years ago from now!
I CANNOT Believe these elevators are still original! I was DEFINITELY expecting that these elevators were going to be modded, especially since they're located in an Office converted to Residential Building located right in the Middle of Downtown Manhattan! As to how these elevators have survived in a 10+ story building in what is a pretty heavily renovated building in a very expensive area of a very expensive city, I have NO IDEA! But that is not a complaint whatsoever! I am very happy to see these still original, and save for some partially redone cabs and replacement GAL Call Stations, these elevators are still trucking on and running as great as ever!
The building these elevators are in was built in 1902, so these obviously replaced some Manually Controlled Elevators in the 1960s, but these haven't changed much since then and man do these have a TON of character!
I absolutely LOVE & find it incredibly interesting how the left elevator is bigger and has a totally different configuration from the right elevator! I have no idea why these elevators were installed like this, perhaps the left elevator WAS the freight elevator are one time...Idk for sure but it's definitely unique. The main thing about these elevators here (at least for me) was the buttons however.... I have NEVER seen these fixtures at ANY POINT in my life before and I'm definitely curious as to who modded/replaced these elevators. A couple users seem to think these are Staley, but as to whether or not they actually are, who knows!?!? (Until someone makes it into the machine room...)
Regardless, I definitely found these elevators to be pretty charming & unique and the fixtures to be really really cool!
The Indicators also almost fully work, and these elevators also have pretty nice sounding motors and relay logic controllers, and it's clear the owners of this building care very much about keeping these elevators well maintained.
HOPEFULLY these elevators remain this way for many years to come, and to add to this, not only are these Original Vintage 10+ Story Elevators in Downtown Manhattan, but they're actually relatively easy to access too! And if you think THESE elevators are amazing, WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE FREIGHT ELEVATOR here! I can guarantee you that you won't be disappointed.
In the meantime though, enjoy some INCREDIBLE, Well Preserved & Very Unique Mid Rise Elevators with VERY RARE Fixtures located right in the Heart of New York City!
Installed in 1902. (Manually Controlled Otis)
Modernized/Replaced in Circa 1960s. (Staley?? with Unknown Black Button fixtures with Square Halos, New Motors, New Cabs, New Lanterns, New Doors, New Controllers, etc.)
Call Stations replaced by GAL in Circa 1990s, Cabs Redone in Circa Mid to Late 2010s or Early 2020s.
