Always lock down both hubs adapters and do not stop from fast spool in either direction, instead toggle the spooling buttons until the tape is almost at a standstill.

1:43 your electric meter is probably spinning just as fast. Of course it's going to sound good...it's got not two but THREE things going for it. The first ones is obvious as the tape is going eight times faster than a cassette tape so you can record higher frequencies. The second one is slightly harder--the magnetic track is four times wider so the signal to noise ratio is better. The third reason is a bit elusive, but look how the tape is just wound on a core; no reels. This makes the azimuth more stable so there is less constructive and destructive interference because the tape isn't catching on a cassette shell or a reel flange. And another thing about analog recording...just WHERE do you think that wonderful sound on the vinyl LP record comes from? Yep, a spool of magnetic tape...

Ik heb sinds kort een volledig gereviseerde B67 MK1 met nieuwe koppen uit 1978, het laatste jaar dat de MK1 werd gebouwd voordat de MK2 uit kwam. Komt uit de studio van Radio Rijnmond waar de recorder gebruikt werd in een reportage wagen. Een formidabele en zeer robuuste machine. De A80 en de B67 zijn verwant aan elkaar voor zover ik gelezen heb. In hoeverre er verschil is in opname en weergave kan ik nog niet beoordelen, maar ik ben van plan ook een A80 aan te schaffen.

Hello Philip I have a problem with my A80RC. After a minute, two, sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes a few seconds, it exits the recording. (REC lamp lights up) . Stops deleting and recording. Everything else works perfectly. any ideas?

That "genre" can do with a crappy 100$ cassete deck, not a Studer. I am willing to bet this "genre" of yours is some crack addict in his basement doing some "analog" shit.

@@PhilipvanderMatten This really depends. If you don't do it too much, you get tape saturation, which actually sounds nice and warm. If you do it too much, then you get into unpleasant distortions. But 0 dB is definitely not a limit for good sound on analog tape. If you go around +2 dB, you actually get an improvement through the saturation.
