Simple. They're entertainers, and they know the value of suspense, of keeping the crowd wired up and enthusiastic. Turn around really quick, and the suspense is gone. Making the crowd wait builds excitement. Also makes the singer push out more effort.

nitemare111 Yea i get that point. But quite frankly it's entertainment for the stupid (for lack of a better term for it). Degrading themselves. Anyone with a decent enough brain and ears know a good voice when they hear it. Acting like they wont press the button and then asking their seatmate if they would or won't press just makes them look like kids in an exam who don't know what the right answer is from the wrong one.

Because they would rather the singer went to the correct judge. The one that is more likely to bring out the best in them. If a rock singer got put with Tom them he wouldn't bring out the best in him where as Danny will so that's why.
