Lol in 1965 as Moremi was proclaimed before places like 3rd Bridge etc were heard of >> we camped anywhere in Moremi with the School Master and 3 other St Andrews Pupils using a Landy Series something. We saw the Sign Butcher outside a hut in Maun long before Deli Meat and Woolies and tar roads in Maun and we needed Meat to stock up. Walked in >> Flies every where and were told 'They only have fresh Goat Meat ' We accepted. Out came a rusty old .22 Rifle and he went out the back of the Hut to the Stockade >> Bang .. We waited 30 mins outside in the fresh air and the meat was cut up on the dirty counter. We had a meat stew in Moremi later that night >> It was like eating a Veldskoen!!!great days in that area. Oh yes Daily Fees etc in Moremi in 1965 = NIL 😄

Hey Bruce, I see you changed your wheels? What was your main deciding factors for that? Did you ever have capability issues on the originals?
@OverlandingwithBruce2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew. Yes I did. No I never had any issues. I wanted to see how much difference there was. I have since gone back to the 20’s as I could not see a huge benefit in the 18’s for my type of travel. All I did experience was an increase in fuel consumption
@matthewboonzaaier2 жыл бұрын
@@OverlandingwithBruce Interesting. I was shocked when I saw it because I’ve been telling so many people about this guy that does overlanding on 20”s 😂 - When people ask me why I don’t go to a smaller rim size, I have 19”s. But thanks for the feedback, I’m glad to hear you haven’t had issues. Although your vehicles capabilities probably also play a massive role in that hey.
@OverlandingwithBruce2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewboonzaaier oh shucks lucky I put them back on :) :) To be honest I have been on trips where someone lost a BFG Mud Terraing 16 inch tyre and I had no problems with my 20 inch standard wheels. Sometimes it's just luck and other times it maybe a bit of ability or care. Either way I am back on the 20's from now. If I do a very tough route with very tough tracks and lots of sharp rocks I may fit the 18's but right now Im very happy with the 20's. Another thing people say is you won't get tyres in rural places for the 20's well I can tell you you cant get most size tyres in rural areas. This year I am going to break lots of rules that we have all been told about Overlanding so watch this space. 🤣 Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
@matthewboonzaaier2 жыл бұрын
@@OverlandingwithBruce I would imagine that some luck or taking that extra care or caution could sometime play a bigger role than the type of tyres or wheels Thanks for the replies I’m with you on that one. Let’s prove them wrong Keep up the content, it’s great stuff

@@OverlandingwithBruce Thanks for the response! So you eventually decided against the 20's even though they had adequate sidewall? Or were there other factors that influenced your decision?
@OverlandingwithBruce2 жыл бұрын
@@dumanimjo609 its a pleasure. I am now back on 20's. The 18's will always be slightly better off road but the 20's are better overall I think. I still have the 18's and will use them perhaps if I do a trip where I know it will be lots of rough off roading.
