Amazing Burmese-style mask dance at the AmThai Festival, Wimbledon Park, London, 29th August (2010).
This gal can move!
Apparently this dance is called the RAM NA GAHK รำหน้ากาก (lit. the 'mask dance') and hails form Burma, although some of the hand and head movements look a little Balinese to me too!
At the festival, this was announced as a 'Burmese Mask Dance'. Some viewers have commented that strictly speaking this is not a traditional Thai or Burmese dance. I don't know any more than was announced at the festival about the dance, namely that it is a 'Burmese Mask Dance'. Possibly, the talented young lady in the dance has choreographed the dance herself, fusing influences from various cultures.
