Amazing Classic Fiberglass Boat Collections | PowerBoat Television

When people think of antique and classic boats, the assumption is usually that they're made of wood - wooden boats have been in production far longer than any other type of boat. Once the technology of fibreglass made its way into the marine industry, the game was changed considerably. Not only, were boat builders given a blank slate of creativity, but the affordability and accessibility of these boats meant that builders started popping up everywhere, and more and more people were able to get hooked on boating.
In this segment we connect with some collectors - Murray Parnell, John Gullick, Tim Jackson, Wayne Robinson & Ken Kirk - who have upwards of 70 boats EACH! We take a look at some of the radical designs and lavish lines of boats from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, including some wild prototypes and one-offs that barely saw the light of day.

Those Canadian boat builders were very industrious! Super cool that even up north in Canada they had fin fever. I'm restoring a 1962 Dorsett Farallon and a 1959 Glass Craft Olympia.

I just picked up a 14 foot Fiberglass 1953 Heters Hudson Bay. The Fiberglass is transparent. I plan to find a period outboard to use on it. My next boot if I can find one will be a Herters Flying Fish with the big fins. I also picked up a 1981 Rinker T151 Tri Haul.

I just picked up a 1958 Aquabird nonmagnetic wizard. I have not been able to find any info on this nice little 8' speed boat. Sure is cool.

Had a 1957 Wizard hardtop boat of only 16 feet. Miss her. Traded for a 1997 SeaRay. Dealer said he collected old boats. Hope she found a good home with guys like these!

I got a old restored 7.5 hp Elgin motor , I think its a 1954 ? Or 1964 ..cant remember for sure now ..its been under a blanket in a spare bedroom for so long I can't remember what exactly it looks like .

I've got a 60's Pleasure Craft fiberglass Boat, with a Mercury 1000 hp outboard motor with the original Title and first owner's name on it, Which was used for an all lady's pyramid show, in the middle of the Lake in the New Mexico Sunland park Race Trac & casino, I ended up buying it from the ex owner of the west Texas airport, for a friend in Mexico, well after 15 years he never took with him, he passed away Jan 1st 2019, so I kept it, I'll let it go for a good price, I'll sell it, or trade it for a jet sky.

Dad had a friend with a 110 Mercury in those days, but not exactly positive it was 55.
