Woo first I think haha 😎 awesome vid dude, and those aurora ❤️ we just decided today we are not going to go Vegas in October and now going back to Iceland instead for a week 😎 when was it you went again? We are going to get a campervan but wondering what your sleeping arrangements were I.E did you go to the campsites?
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
Ah awesome man! Iceland is where it’s at 😎 the auroras were such an amazing experience, truely. We just slept in random places on the side of the roads and in fields etc. so nothing formal at all. We did stay at some accommodation to break up the cold, but yeah we were pretty easy going. I met a guy who just slept in a baker van style camper in all the carparks at main attractions with no issues at all. It’s just something to get used to I guess 😂

Auora shot is a killer, the timelapse is also fantastic, watched it 3 times.

Awesome! Thanks man :D I have a few better time lapses but its so exciting running around trying to capture everything!

Wow!!! That image of the falls with the mountain, wow, that is beautiful and then along comes the aurora and take it to the next level. Fantastic!! On a side note, Haylie had a good look going wearing her sleeping bag lol.

Thanks Jason! Such an amazing place to photograph.... as obvious by all the people 😂 we got really lucky with the aurora and so grateful that we finally were able to witness one 😝 Haylie said thanks! 😒😒😂

Love the way you show how the raw picture gets transforms into the final pic!

Thanks! I think it tells full story of the process that images undergo after capture in the field. Plus it’s just something to shut the haters up too 😂

And so it begins!! What a way to start the Icelandic adventure... Aurora's to kick things off... and at a place like that! I'd imagine that despite the fact you've been seeing images of that place for years, as soon as you set foot there all of those images melt away and you just make it your own. Happy travels mate! :)
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
Hey Richo. Yeah man, how good was that! Aurora on the first real night in Iceland! It truly is such an amazing experience. I talk about photographing the famous Kirkjufell in the next video, which I think was a bit hit and miss, but hopefully I get my point across enough. But you're completely right.... its like you've never seen the scene before and you're just blown away but it all!

Magic,so many people my problem is I have no tolerance for rude people....love the photos....😊👍🏻

Yeah you find them everywhere in popular places... especially in Iceland (tourists that is).

Love those aurora shots Andrew but the crowds ...!!! I couldn't stand that at all. Looks like a beautiful landscape though.
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
It’s stunning, truely. And such an amazing experience to witness and aurora for the first time! It was awesome 😁 yeah the crowds didn’t bother me too much, but did detract my ability to speak to the camera 😳 😂 it’s poorly setup parking wise etc for such a famous place though
@nightscapeimages.richard5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the sheer volume of tourists may be out of control for the powers that be.

Yeah exactly. I think thats one icelands big problems at the moment!

I like your positivity. I crack the proverbial when there’s one other photographer around. As much as I want to go to Iceland I’m afraid the crowds will stop me. 🤨
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
It’s just one of those things. We were travelling a bit too much in Iceland, but in the US at tunnel view in Yosemite I met a lovely couple that I still talk to today! So there is good and bass with crowds

Cool stuff, l like your lighthearted approach. That aurora was killer. And for an Aussie, your accent is very light. Dare l say even Americanish at times... 😁

A great start. Would love to go there one day...the crowds...hmm...Long exposure with the 10 stopper to keep out the CROWDS!... A pain to edit out in PS.
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
Yeah they can be a pain, but its so much fun watching people from all over the globe attracted to places like this

One of the best nights of my life watching that aurora in our sleeping bags 💜 amazing memories and those edits are brilliant champ 👍🏼

Wasn’t it just awesome.... so funny trying to join sleeping bags to sit back and relax in the freezing cold on the hard peddle ground 😂

Wow epic shots mate ! Never apologise for shooting iconic locations, up until that point you didn't have your own images of it did you ? ;) I'm starting my 1st day in Iceland today, sadly won't be getting to Kirkjufell but hitting the big waterfalls today. Cannot wait. What a breathtakingly beautiful country it is.

Thanks mate. Im surprised you've go time to watch youtube! haha. Congrats on making it mate, I hope its everything you've been looking forward too! That exactly how I felt about some of the locations in iceland. I know people have these photos.... but now these are mine. They have experiences and memories added to them, and in conjunction with the vlogs....mmmmmm lovely lol.

Nice one guys ... went to Iceland a few years ago just on the cusp of the crazy numbers and must admit if I went again not sure I'd escape without a criminal conviction for pushing stupid down the hill.... looking forward to your continued travels around

It was great to be taken back to this place. It was my first location when I visited Iceland. You did well with the crowds, thank goodness for the removal tool. Interesting that it was colder than Norway, what temperature was it? Love the aurora shot!👌
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! With so many lights coming and going along the road I had to do a massive image stack to normalise the exposure in the mountain and foreground! It’s amazing how far brake lights illuminate 😒 that night it was -5 and we were in the tent.... it was bloody cold hey! All my layers and I still couldn’t shake the chill
@PMCN535 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewDawes How many images did you stack to remove the people & lights etc?
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
67 images and 1 single for the aurora. The foreground needed the most work to "normalise" the colour and people etc
@sebastianarielburd31192 жыл бұрын
wow, amazing, what month of the year did u visit there to see the aurora? thanks
@davidtrain5 жыл бұрын
You stacked 67 photos together??!?
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
Yep! Did you see the timelapse? Those blow outs from headlights and taillights are nearly impossible to time because there are so many people around.... so by stacking and averaging each pixel, it normalises the image to a “background” pixel value.... aka no extra light
@davidtrain5 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewDawes That would make my computer die, photoshop already crashes it ^^ Epic photo though and congrats on the new move.
@AndrewDawes5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have a 110 stack to process from Milan that my laptop could never handle so I’m looking forward to editing that once we settle in to the new place. It’s not until I had to go back to my laptop did I truly realise how good my new PC is!
