I bought 4 cameras set with a solar panel built in. Just absolutely incredible. No power/wires needed. Can turn on spot lights as well have conversation through camera.

Yea this system is great, so you probably have full coverage of your property if you're running a 4 camera setup.

how long does a battery last when we charging this by solar power ? are the security cameras reliable how long have you had them for ?
@DemCrumblies5 ай бұрын
While I had it up, it stayed above 90% easily. The camera in my backyard was even better because it didn't have to record often, but the one in front of my house had to record tons of movement from passing cars, kids walking home from school, people walking their pets, etc. and the battery level was still good. The battery level will really depend on how much motion is going on in front of your house and how long you set the recordings to be. In Winter months when it's much colder and there's lots of overcast days, the battery level will drop so you'll just have to monitor battery levels to see if you need to plug in a USB cable to top them back up if the sun isn't out much. However, if you like somewhere with lots of sunny weather, you'll never have to worry. I had to take these cameras down to review other cameras, but my other AOSU cameras are all reliable. Zero issues with them, especially in thunderstorms and high winds.
@wileecoyote57493 ай бұрын
They stayed charged FOREVER so long as have sun. On overcast days still works just fine and will stay with enough power for several days without direct sunlight

I live in Chicago. Will this hold during Winter time??? And how will this affect the solar panel & the battery during cold weather?
@DemCrumbliesАй бұрын
My aosu cameras have held up in Canadian Winters, but I'm not sure about Chicago since I've heard it gets both cold and windy. The solar charging and battery life will definitely drain quicker in the Winter due to the colder temps and if ice or snow stays on the solar panel for a long time. If you're open to having a wired camera, I can recommend some wired ones so you won't have to worry about battery life.
@mariviclexus5141Ай бұрын
@DemCrumblies thank u for ur response. I was just curious if this is worth buying during winter months. I was also looking into Eufy S340 & was comparing between the 2 of them. I didn't want to get the wired ones because I didn't want to deal with the wired hassles.
@DemCrumbliesАй бұрын
@@mariviclexus5141 Yea with any of these solar models, the battery life will definitely be impacted with overcast Winter weather since the sun isn't always out, plus the cold temperatures will drain them more. You can offset that by disabling some settings such as switch to B&W mode instead of using the spotlight or lowering the recording resolution. Using cameras from both brands, I'd say aosu's cameras are just as good as eufy's at a fraction of the price, but eufy's app experience is a bit more polished, although aosu is catching up quickly. I do like the S340 a bit more because you can have dual view recording or set it to single lens recording.

Does the User Agreement seem shady? I was under the impression it states things like they own the images it takes etc. Does it seem like it has data and privacy issues.
@DemCrumblies7 ай бұрын
With all the camera brands I review, I actually never read through the User Agreement, but I will reach out to AOSU next week to ask them to provide some clarification to see what they say.

With multiple cameras set to motion tracking, do they return back to a preset default position after an event? If not, would they not be handicapped to see a subsequent event coming from the same direction?
@DemCrumblies5 ай бұрын
Yes they return to a preset default position after a certain time. If you had enough cameras, like 3 or 4, you could actually just set them to stay static if you have slight overlapping area coverage so they would never pan or tilt if you really wanted to also.

Is there a way how i can use the cameras without having wifi since where i need to install it is hard to get internet from that spot
@DemCrumblies3 ай бұрын
Might be worth looking into a WiFi extender for the hard to reach areas. You might be able to set up a local network, but then you won't be able to check the cameras when you are away from home easily or use any cloud features if you pay for them.
@jaydavis52065 ай бұрын
Can you use these cameras from Mobile hot spot only, without the home base. Can we just use a Cloud for storage instead of home base
@DemCrumblies5 ай бұрын
Hmm, I'm not sure about that question actually because I remember that the Base was required for initial setup, so I think it may be needed. Best thing would be to contact support@aosulife.com to find out for sure.

Have you found anyway to connect to the video stream out side of the App? rtsp via VLC player, motioneyeOS, etc?
@DemCrumblies7 ай бұрын
I don't believe it supports RTSP. I can confirm with them, but they said there's no ONVIF support for sure.

@DemCrumblies6 ай бұрын
When you buy the cameras, it includes the home base in the kit. I don't think you can buy these cameras separately.

Is this D1 Camera 2.5g or 5g, or even better, Both 2.4g And 5g?
@DemCrumblies5 күн бұрын
Hey if you get the kit that I have in this video, the hub or home base unit will connect to your modem or router by ethernet cable, then the cameras will connect to the hub's network for connectivity. Most cameras will prioritize 2.4 Ghz connections usually since 2.4 Ghz has a further range than 5.0 Ghz, even though 5.0 Ghz has higher speeds.
@rgrbch5 күн бұрын
Thank you very much, I did not know that about 2.4 having more range, that was very interesting. I think I have 2.4g and 5g, I just need to figure out how to split it, all the info I found is 2 years old or older and I don't have what they're telling me to click on, on the Xfinity App. But I'll get it figured out, I have been looking at the AOSU Solar Cameras for a long time and I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going with. Thank you very much, you helped me out a lot.
@DemCrumblies5 күн бұрын
@@rgrbch You're welcome, yea most people want to prioritize 5.0 Ghz, which makes sense, but if range matters, then 2.4 GHz is ideal and since these cameras aren't transmitting very high bitrates, 2.4 Ghz is more than ok for streaming good quality video. Previously you could log into your modem or router by typing in an IP address in your browser, but some ISPs do let you manage everything on their app. Sometimes, you won't see the option to split your WiFi network into 2 and give them separate names until you disable a certain option in the app, which merges the WiFi bands. If you're not sure, it might be worth calling your ISP up or emailing them and asking them how to split the WiFi bands. AOSU is a great brand and offers great value, you can't go wrong. Btw, I found this link, maybe it will help with splitting the bands? thinglabs.io/how-to-split-xfinity-wifi-router-into-2-4-and-5ghz-bands#:~:text=Splitting%20Bands%20Using%20the%20Xfinity%20App%201%20Open,for%202.4%20and%205%20GHz%20WiFi.%E2%80%9D%20More%20items

@DemCrumblies I was able to find out how, and accomplished the splitting of the 2 WiFi bands, it was quite easy once I understood where to do it at. Thank you for your help. Now to bite the bullet and decide what cameras I need/want without spending a boatload of $$$. Thanks again 👍

@DemCrumblies7 ай бұрын
You should be able to yank it back out easily. Only problem I can think of is if the plastic warps over time from extreme heat and cold, but I haven't owned it long enough to say how it'll fare in that department.
