AMAZING CYPRUS, PAPHOS IN OCTOBER 2020, KIPRAS

Paphos (ˈpæfɒs) a town in SW Cyprus, near the sites of two ancient cities: famous as the centre of Aphrodite worship and traditionally the place at which she landed after her birth among the waves. Paphos is a city on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Inhabited since Neolithic times, it has several sites relating to the cult of goddess Aphrodite, whose mythical birthplace was at Old Paphos (Kouklia).
Having read about the different areas of Paphos before arriving I was really keen to get to the Old Town as quickly as possible but logistics prove somewhat tricky so make sure you do your research in advance. The day I walked there -about quiet some time up a steep road to get to the old town to find most of the paces closed.
Despite the closure issues we were blown away by the old town. History, amazing views, gorgeous shops, funky bars and restaurants and what is quite obviously a huge amount of investment in public realm as a result of the Eurpoean Capital of Culture status in 2017. It is simply stunning and would be a great place for couples looking for a unique city break location for a weekend away. You could feels he vibe and the energy of the businesses trying to create a new more chilled and sophisticated destination that is simply a million miles culturally from the strip and Paphos lower town.
Taxi fare I have paid from Paphos airport to the hotel in Paphos was 25 euros, same I paid to a return trip.

Yeah, airport taxis are crazy, but negotiable. In the city taxi is 10 euros. There are buses going from the airport, but unfortunately they don't run 24 hours, only between 7.35 am and 01.05 from airport to the harbour or Caravella station (1.50 euros only)/

The water was not cold at all, which was a nice surprise as I expected it to be too cold for swimming.
