I have been providing voluntary guitar restringing and restoration service to my neighbors so that people's life under COVID-19 SIP will be a little more enjoyable. I have restored number of guitars but finally, a Martin guitar has come to my garage! It's Martin 000-15S, mahogany top guitar (which I did not notice until I started checking the wood species used for this guitar).
I thought only the spruce woods like Sitka or Engelmann produces good sound for acoustic guitars since they are the majority, so I was so surprised by hearing the sound of this Martin 000-15S after restoration. It has very deep bass and the total harmony is also very beautiful. I fell in love with this guitar almost immediately. I want a guitar sounds like this someday...
In this video, I found a crack in the side of the body, so I repaired that using several techniques trying not to damage the visible surface. Also I measured the thickness of the entire body using a MAG-IC Probe, got a tapping response frequency spectrum, removed finger grease from the fingerboard, polished the bridge and the entire body and the neck, lowered the bridge saddle.
