This is the video I've been looking for. We're a retail nursery in Texas (and an Aquascape dealer.) Our existing ponds in front of our store are a constant maintenance nightmare, I'm currently looking for ways to remedy them using Aquascape principles. More videos like this please! Algae and water clarity are HUGE issues in TX!

If you would to do a pond in Massachusetts, like I’m thinking to do one when I’m older, most likely when I have my own house, like will it be possible to do it with the cold weather. And if I would do that, how much would it cost?
@GregWittstockThePondGuy5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can have a pond in cold weather. We have installers in Canada and the ponds do just fine. You can get an idea of costs by looking at the water features here: www.aquascapeconstruction.com/water-gardening-store

What is the annual electric cost for the pond??
@GregWittstockThePondGuy4 жыл бұрын
Electrical costs vary depending on type/size of pump used, whether you have lights or other electronic devices such as an Automatic Dosing System, aerator, etc.
@yvonneselwa91485 жыл бұрын
Id love to know how much this cost
@marianthipapastergiadis77445 жыл бұрын
This is absolutely amazing, but I wonder how much energy is used for all the pumps and everything. If the aim is to increase biodiversity and all that, is using fossil fuel to power the pond counterproductive? Would love to hear a reply thanks Ed and Greg!!!
@edbeaulieu59165 жыл бұрын
maz p The only pump that needs to operate continuously is approx. 750 Watts which runs the Wetland Filter, the other pumps are used periodically but do have a benefit for Increasing the Dissolved Oxygen and helping with debris removal. There are a lot of factors that go into determining the Pro’s vs. Con’s: The old pond was well into the eutrophication process which is not necessarily a bad thing and it’s a normal part of the lifespan of a pond, everything will eventually die including ponds..... The true benefit for the local wildlife(pollinators, insects, birds and amphibians) would be considered priceless because they perform a lot of ecosystem services for the surrounding community, pollination of crops, dragonflies, frogs, and bats eat mosquitoes and other disease causing flying insects, the high biological activity within the Wetland Filter sucks CO2 from the atmosphere through photosynthesis, etc...... If this system was not being used the alternative is chemical treatment to control weed growth(what’s the environmental cost of the chemicals including the Carbon footprint for packaging and transportation of the chemicals to the site and then what’s the impact on the animal community? It raises a great question and without a more detailed breakdown it’s difficult to say exactly but in my mind when I look at the facts we’re doing more good than harm.....
