This is something Kura games learned from their first game, Punishing Gray Raven. Older units in the game don't freeze time in their ult, but the newer ones do. Opens them up to get more creative with ults and not worry (as much) about the animation time.

This video is good, but it assumes I know something about what I'm doing. Intro's? Outro's? energy? Would love a video explaining how all this works. As a player new to this type of game I'm struggling a bit to figure out how all these systems intertwine.

The intro is what happens when a character that is **NOT** on field gets put **ON** field. An outro is what happens when the character that is currently **ON** field swaps out with a character that is **NOT** on field. A character leaves that's an outro. A new character comes in that's the intro. Energy is basically tied to your ultimate ability. Hit max energy, you can ult.

There are tutorials for each character it's very helpful only thing you can't use in the tutorial is Intro and outgoing skills. The tutorial button is in the character attribute detail screen it's the book icon to the left.

Swap cancelling is when a character's attack still goes on even when they are swapped out. For example Encore's heavy attack when her Forte bar is full, she will sit still for like 4 seconds to do her charge attack and can't dodge during that time. However you can swap her out and her attack still go through.
