One of the most vivid and tender stories about God’s grace is found in John 8. A woman was caught in adultery and was brought to Jesus and publicly humiliated before a crowd. It was all a set-up in an attempt to test or trap Jesus. The religious leaders quoted the Old Testament law that this woman should be stoned to death for committing adultery and they wanted to know what Jesus thought. The Lord’s response was that “whoever is without sin should throw the first stone at her.” All the accusers walked away being “convicted in their conscience.” Jesus showed the woman tender grace and then told her to leave her life of sin. No person is better or worse than another-we ALL are in desperate need of God’s grace. Pastor Gary teaches about God’s grace in today’s study from John 8 and concludes with the background on the song, Amazing Grace, by John Newton.

People say Jesus is soft but they forget what Pslams 2 says about him and what he did in synagogue, let's not forget judgement day! He's full of love and mercy, but he's righteous, just and holy. People should not take his mercy and grace for granted!!!

You don't read the Bible Prophecy in the meainstream media or newspapers. You read the future trough read the Scriptures that predicted what's happening to the world right now. And the Word of God shows us its almost time to go Home any day now. But in the meanwhile share the Gospel to the lost people time is short

Pastor Gary IS one of my favorite teachers of the Word Of God, so do not let me be misunderstood when I pose this question to him, but I do have to ask this: why are you not asking people to come forward so they would publicly ask our Lord to live in their hearts and become their personal Lord and Savior....you know: our Lord said: "if you acknowledge me before men, I'll acknowledge you before my Father"

Dear Pastor Hamrick, I watched all your lessons in Revelation and learnt a lot. However, I am not sure you understand that there are at least two heavens. Heaven where God sits upon his throne, the heaven we see. Which we can understand from Psalms, “Who is like our God, who sits upon his throne in the heavens, and stoops down to look upon this heaven and this earth.” So we are in heaven where God’s throne is while the new heaven and the new heaven descends from heaven.

STRIKE 1, but nice‼ WE DON'T NEED TO STAY balanced ... we NEED to stay FAITHFUL, NOT BALANCED‼☺♥ Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. ......Hebrews 3:5 Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later, ...........DO NOT REPLACE faithful WITH balanced, THIS IS YOUR WARNING & YELLOW CARD‼♥

Daniel 5:5 doesn't specifically say finger of God but my understanding is the fingers of a man's hand coming out of nowhere writing on the wall, had to be God's hand. Do you understand this verse differently?

It is always amazing to see someone who holds himself out as a serious student of the Word of God teach this fable as if it was a part of the canon of Scripture. This story did not appear in any MSS before the 5th century where it magically appeared in Codex Bezae. And even if it had of been found in the best early MSS it would still have been excluded from the canon because it is filled with several errors that would have preclude it from being considered as inspired. Imagine the thousands of hours that have been wasted studying, preaching, and listening to this fable.

I really like your ministry. Regarding what Jesus wrote in the dirt...I've always held the view that no one has agreed wirh.: The men started leaving one by one when Jesus began writing more in the sand. What if He was writing some or all of their names? He said "You without sin, last the first stone." Just my thoughts.

It is highly likely that John 7:53-8:11 was not in the original manuscripts. The story of the woman caught in adultery is out of context with John 7:1-52-8:12-58. Jesus was not writing in dirt. He was in the temple court where the ground/floor was made of stone. The Jewish people did not enter the Temple Court with dirty feet. They washed their feet in special pools just for that reason, to clean their feet after a dusty walk to the Temple. It makes no sense that Jesus would bend down twice to doodle on stone. And where is the man she committed adultery with? They were both caught in the very act, so he would also stand guilty.

Jesus came to fulfill the Law, and that is what this passage is all about. The first thing Jesus answered the Pharisees with disarmed them, they dropped their rocks and left. Then Jesus referred back to the Law of Moses when He asked about her accusers. She said they all were gone. You see, the Law of Moses given him by God was very precise about Capital Punishment (the death penalty). The Torah (law) REQUIRES that BEFORE you may execute the death penalty you must have at least two witnesses who agree on every point BEFORE you can execute someone for violating the law. But since Jesus had already disarmed her accusers and they had all left, the Death Penalty could NOT be invoked because the required two witnesses were no longer accusing her. Jesus asking the woman "where are those accusers of yours" is hearkening back to the Law, making it ILLEGAL for anyone to condemn her to death BECAUSE the requirements of that law were not satisfied now. So Jesus, by disarming the witnesses against her also delivered her from Death. See how He fulfilled the Law of Moses, by the Letter and by the Holy Spirit too! What is important even more so is that this is exactly HOW Jesus saves us too! He has paid the debt for sin of all the world, thereby satisfying the Law as a substitution for all of us, therefore Satan is JUDGED for murdering the ONLY Righteous man on earth. So Jesus while fulfilling the Law has disarmed all the accusations against US, making them legally harmless lies, because Jesus the Truth has set us free from that death penalty, swallowing it up in the sacrifice He made for us. Then He gives us Life! Eternal Life! Furthermore; Jesus said He came not to abolish the Law, but fulfill it, and in this story He did fill full the Law by saving the accused from death by disarming her accusers; the Pharisee witnesses against her according to the Letter and Spirit of the Law. No witnesses? No capital punishment. That's the LAW. Now this passage is in John 8. In John 7:37 Jesus states "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink." He is claiming that He is the Fountain of Living Water! See John 4 also. The Woman at the well. This hearkens back to Jeremiah 17:13 "O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters. " Could this be an explanation of "What" Jesus wrote in the ground? God bless you all. Michael A
