Noreen, this is such an amazing idea! I just got a door sign from HL where you swap out the "O" for holiday pieces for $4.11 because there was a small chip in the board. All I have to do is use some wood putty to fix it! I love a good deal❤

Hobby lobby clearance is the best. I have bought many blanks for my craft projects. The day after covid when the stores opened again I went to hobby lobby and they were marking all the spring items to 90% off. OMG I filled 3 carts and only spent 200.00. I had well over 2000.00 worth of items. I won't have to buy supplies for a long time. As a crafter I'm always thinking out side the box. I've never seen that crackling done, didn't know it was a thing now! Lol. It looked pretty easy too! We don't have Hobby Lobby here in Canada but I live about an hour away from the Washington border and I do go across the border on occassion and when I do it's a must to visit Hobby Lobby and Joanns! I do the same exact thing, I buy up the 90% off signs and refurbish them. I have a couple of big ones like this as well and recently got a Wecreat, love being able to make the letters and words I want.

You absolutely need to use a timer..... work 15-20 min and then take a break and assess if you are up to another 10-15 min or not. Listen to your body, and give yourself grace!!! oxooxox

Very nice! I used this technique back in the mid to late 90's in my hair salon on the chair rail. It was so fun to do. I have also upcycled 90% off items from Hobby Lobby, and they turned out amazing. I love to upcycle.

Girl, rule of thumb is to use the size of paint brush that fits your project. In other words, this would go much quicker and smoother for you if you use a larger brush...at least 2 - 3". Cool project and a great tip. I never think to look at the clearance section at Hobby Lobby.

Great idea. I got a long skinny sign from DT that I was going to do kind of the same idea, but after having it on the porch about 2 weeks, it just fell apart. The frame fell off and now I need to put it back together. That brad nailer would come in handy for this.
