I’ve taken up whittling during the pandemic. I can’t look at a piece of firewood without wondering what’s inside.

Beautiful chair! I was surprised by the angle of the back legs and think you could have used small sticks as dowels
@fadetoblond Жыл бұрын
If he shortens the legs, the angle of the chair will face back more and cause person sitting in it, to lean back more, which is hard on the back.

Please wear goggles and especially wear earplugs your ear can only take so much noise. You'd be surprised how little it takes to destroy your hearing which shows up later in life.

What do you preserve or treat the wood with, to prevent rotting and splitting? Beautiful work by the way. Gorgeous chair.

Great chair, but some colouring of the wood could have highlighted the greatness of the structure! Good job though!

@@nickoakley69 How do I treat wood for use in projects? Let it age and dry naturally? If so, how long?
@nickoakley69 Жыл бұрын
@@toranada if it's for exterior, maybe teak oil, something like that, (drying) depending on your climate, leave it for at least 12 - 24 hours
@toranada Жыл бұрын
@@nickoakley69 I mean how long to let wood dry from live to use. I found a channel that recommends 6 months with wax covering the exposed parts to prevent drying to happen too fast.

Do you want likes? write the measurements of everything we see, in order to be able to repeat the artifact that you have built !!! Enter each measurement; otherwise yours is just an exercise to say; "but how good I am!"

Mmmh whatever floats your boat I guess, would hold an Asian body, less so a European one, also, full of cheap screws, whatever happened to proper wood dowels?

This is an excellent book for anyone trying out woodworking. kzbin.infoUgkxcZqgZ8Ynkiz5n_LxIWRlAicuzmz5kCHG Not only does it tell you the basics of woodworking, but the fact that it has several projects which use many of the techniques for you to practice with is definitely something that's hard to come by without real apprenticeship!
