Ah I was wandering. Say what are most Atmos Blu-Rays in? Because I have heard of 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. But a lot of AVRs are 5.1.2 Atmos. So you then are missing speaker data. But yeah I doubted the surround sound thing. Granted waht with KZbin Movies you'd think they'd thix this.

@@MrHamit64 "REAL" Atmos BluRays Should not have any Speaker Layout, they work with Audio Objects. Some studios are lazy and limit it to 7.x.4 or similar, but that should be rare. If you have only 2 height channels, then you won't get the full effect because all Height effects will be mixed to the 2 Height channels

Ah okay, thanks. Yeah I just asked for 2 reasons. Like I said I've heard that quite a few AVRs have 5.1.2 as the Atmos config. Only the real expensive 12 or more channal things have full 7.1.4 config. I've just even heard of 1 that can do supposedly 9.1.6 or something like that. So I just wanted to be clear if these guys were going overboard or something. I know the BD of The Last Jedi was 7.1.4 Atmos. Now what of sample rate and bit deapth? Are they still 48 KHZ 24 bits? Also should a GPU like the Nvidia GTX 1660 Super be able to spit out Atmos? It's kinda hard to tell because they don't say in the speks. I know that a lot would depend in that case on your software like Power DVD VLC or what ever. Which reminds me. Can VLC play UHD BDs? See I'm blind and thus Power DVD as it's interface has changed is no longer usable by the blind.

@@MrHamit64 Well, the GPU should have no problem passing Dolby Atmos. It is essentially all Bitstream, so as long as the card can pass Bitstream on through HDMI you should be fine. When it comes to Software...well, I don't really know. I mostly stream my content via iTunes, Netflix and others. Playing discs via PC should be possible, as long as you use Windows. Also, Windows 10 has added Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support at the system level a while ago, and they have a pretty good support for Dolby Atmos on Headphones as well. You don't even need special headphones, you could just get a pair of good Hifi Stereo headphones and experience a decent 3D Sound experience without buying an expensive AVR and Speakers. Might be worth a try. Of course, it's only an option if you are watching (or in your case listening to) the movie alone.

Ah okay. Thanks again. Yes I like using disks to get the full lausless audio. Yes unfortionately at the moment I don't have an atmos reciver but would like to get 1 at some point. Hmmmmmmmmmmm I'll have to find a way to contact VLC then to see. Because like I said before Power DVD got rid of a lot of keystrokes thus now it's not usable. With Power DVD 14 at least I could play the movie. Now nothing. Again thanks for your help friend.
