I think the laser is more for the cleaning of dense fine particles on metal surfaces, wet abrasive blasting is probably more effective on hulls. The laser could probably demage the hull if its not steel.

This process is very good for small things, however for large walls or structures it seems to be not efficient. Imagine how long it would take to remove paint from the side of a building as opposed to pressure washing it and then painting it. This system is not practical for large things.

I have seen ones with much wider beam width removing more material. In comparison to pressure washing it doesn't present the need to recover the water and paint chips. less noise and doesn't pollute the environment. Multiple machines can be deployed to take on larger jobs.
