For everyone that didn't notice; look at the angle where this hand is coming from, therefore at which angle his body and sitting position is to the paper. There is your first clue and major key to lefty oblique pen writing(besides dedicated practice and patience of course). Very beautiful clips from him. 💯👍🏼

Hi , he is using gouache.. which is like a highly pigmented watercolor, it can be diluted and used as ink for calligraphy

So beautifully done! My left handed students could do beautiful copperplate like this with an oblique pen. Technique is the same.

Yeah it seems like that is a huge factor in this working, weird that that part wasn’t shown more clearly as it would have been useful

Why is he using an oblique penholder. I've always been toled that lefthanded people don't need to use a pen like that. Wonderful calligraphy!!
@CalligraphyMasters3 жыл бұрын
I have no idea, people are also supposed to use straight pen holder for Copperplate, but plenty of people still use oblique...
@CalligraphybyDianeFoisy3 жыл бұрын
My left handed students use oblique pen holders too. Technique is the same for the left handed calligraphers. 😊

I’m left-handed and I’ve only dabbled in calligraphy… it’s so weird that he’s holding the nib in the same direction with both hands.. I would assume that with the right hand you would turn the nib to the left, and with the left hand you’d turn it to the right and use a round nib insert (so it’s not upside down)…. No? Also, he’s making a huge effort not to block the camera with his hand, probably putting unnecessary strain on the wrist, instead of just moving the camera to the other side altogether… Is that some kind of standard?

Hi. Your calligraphy is so beautiful. I am looking for someone to write “ Operatore di Luce” in copperplate or Spencerian calligraphy and sent digitally to use as a tattoo template? Anyone?

Hahaha! Pay for the things you want, just like everyone else! Art is a skill learnt over time, it's not there for you to profit from others labour.
@CalligraphyMasters3 жыл бұрын
Yeah! This is lame and disrespectful to artists! You don't seek stuff like this in comment areas.....
@indialemon31483 жыл бұрын
I certainly meant no Disrespect and I absolutely would pay for the service. What is disrespectful is that you assumed otherwise. I actually had beautiful skills Of my own, but arthritis set in and I can no longer enjoy. I wouldn’t be commenting if I didn’t have appreciation for the talent.
@CalligraphyMasters3 жыл бұрын
@@indialemon3148 i don't think anyone is assuming anything, but if you are in our field, you would know that there are plenty of people asking the same and when you tell them a price or that you don't have time, they become offended

I was a dumb bitch as I brought that angled calligraphy dip pen online which was only suitable for right handers I tried the same thing as what the video did which is angeling myself...... But boy was that difficult causing my hand to feel uncomfortable 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 so I brought another dip pen and phew it work out all right🤧🤧😭😭 I was about to give up buying that dip pen and just went straight to my brush pen instead as the dip pens is damn expensive😖😖 but is was worth it🤧🤧😭😭
