Thanks for the video. How can a dead center on a hole, NO 60 degree center drill, last more then 30 seconds??? My stuff with a deep for full contact & white lead seemed to need adjusting about every minute because the work heated and I still fucked up I don't know how many centers! Live centers were a rarity in the 60's. Best of luck to them, God luv'em, cause no one else will

@@davidgalinas4427 sadly, yes! NOTHING drove me nuts more than watching machinists, both mine and others, lay chucks, stock, wrenches, HAMMERS, etc on the ways! Those machines cost so much. Gawd help em if I caught them hammering on some work between the chuck and tailstock. Took a few chewings, but they finally understood the only thing that touched the ways, were chips. Oddly, the guy who was the absolute worst turned out to be THE BEST apprentice I’ve ever trained. He even made HDPE way covers just to keep from getting chewed out. LOL Sorry so long… was a fond memory

Started at the company I worked for in 1976 as a floor sweeper and retired on April 12th, 2019 at 1:19 in the afternoon after 44 years at the same company. I manages two of their 7 departments by the time I left and I saw so much. Favorite part of the career was running a large HBM with a 5" spindle. Really enjoyed that. Sadly, one of my best guys that was still there after I retired, had an accident on that same machine and died from his injuries. Loved that guy. So sad. He was 6 days away from retirement himself. As for the lathe bed, the wipes can only do so much keeping the ways clean. A rag and oil can go a long way in prolonging it's life. The one thing that really drove me mad was when a machinist would leave the chuck wrench in the chuck. More that once I have seen where the spindle got turned on by mistake. Would not end up well if the chuck wrench was in the chuck. Had one guy get smacked with a part that flew out of the lathe.

Мало того, что эти чуды вообще работают с четырехкулачковыми патронами без выставления центра по индикатору, так еще и умудрились второй раз зажать деталь за не проточенную часть. Хорошо видно, что второе понижение почти на миллиметр бьет относительно первой проточки, а следственно и внешнего размера дисков. Балансировка - просто отпад.

@@vladivanov3336 Да вообще сверлить обычным сверлом под упор задней бабкой - это извращение. Для этого существует специальное сверло, смысл которого в том, что угол на нем соответствует углу на конусе заднего центра и соприкосновение происходит по всей площади конусов. При этом не важно состояние торца детали, посадка на конусе позволяет и на кривом торце нормально работать. А просверлив обычным сверлом центровочное отверстие, конус задней бабки соприкасается с краями отверстия, что при кривом торце, уведет деталь в сторону.

А это уменьшает точность обработки после ПОВТОРНОГО его закрепления в станке и обдирочного процесса, когда уже закреплены диски. То есть. этот конец рекомендую также предварительно ободрать и уже его ободранного закрепить в станке. То есть, закрепленный конец болванки должен быть обработан до конца ИЗНАЧАЛЬНО и закреплен снова и лишь тогда обдирка должна быть выполнена на чистовую. А уж потом и диски закреплять и дальше обрабатывать. Хотя возможно тут точность высокая не нужна и так сойдет. Тогда конечно экономия времени.

А четырехкулачковый патрон вас не смутил? В нем (без выставления по индикатору) вообще повторно зажимать даже проточенную деталь бесполезно, соосности не будет. Но эти чуды работают с тем, что от колонизаторов осталось. Видимо покупка нового не вписывается в их бизнес-модель.
