That doesn't look like food grade stainless steel to me.

Steel doesn't have to be stainless in order to be food safe. Carbon steel is completely safe for food preparation and eating. train rail, which is the steel they are using for these parts, is Carbon steel. Also Cast Iron is also acceptable and food safe. so is aluminum and copper alloy metals. only a few metals are not food safe but the steel these videos are showing is not one of them. However, What WILL make them unsafe for use in food preparation is the Hardening stage where they dunk these disks of carbon steel into USED ENGINE OIL as a quenching oil!!! Bunch of stupid hacks that they are!

The headstock and tailstock of their lathes are so worn out that they can be moved visibly by hand. Although they might be accurate enough for use in a meat grinder they make I can imagine that their products are not manufactured to the highest standards out there. Having said that, for use within their own country and less wealthy neighboring nations they are still likely to get the job done without too much problem. What always makes me shake my head in these videos is the complete lack of safety and personal protective equipment for the men working in these horribly unsafe and outright dangerous facilities. heck they look like my Father's friend's garage, back in the 1970s when he ran a small mechanic's shop out of his Garage. nothing is clean, absolutely nothing. I wonder how long it is between each incident when someone get's injured and how commonly infections occur from minor wounds. Plus the wearing of loose fitting long sleeve tops around a Lathe is got to be the most dangerous practice. I once saw a man wrapped around a turning Lathe because of a long sleeve shirt, broke his arm in 7 places, broke all the ribs down one side of his body, punctured a lung, lacerated his Liver and destroyed his spleen, cracked his hip and broke is femur into three pieces, fractured the shin bones and ankles of BOTH legs as it whipped him around the axis of the lathe, it nearly killed him, Fortunately for him, the lathe was a large one that was used for large Pipes and had enough room for him to be twisted around the pipe without squeezing him between a small space between the deck and the headstock and tailstock. He lived, and thankfully could not remember the experience at all, I and a few other workers had to receive counselling because of PTSD after witnessing the condition he was in after the accident. someone had managed to hit the red stop button on the lathe to stop it, we still do not know how many times he had been spun around the lathe. He was a rookie and had not been confronted about his clothing before the accident, it caused serious issue in our shop after that incident. I'll never get those images out of my mind. A lathe like the ones shown in this video could easily kill a man, despite its size, which is what makes it so dangerous.
