The Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA) is a public aquarium located in Monterey, California, United States. The aquarium was founded in 1984 and is located on the site of a former sardine cannery on Cannery Row. It has an annual attendance of more than two million visitors. It holds thousands of plants and animals, representing more than 600 species on display. The aquarium benefits from a high circulation of fresh ocean water which is obtained through pipes which pump it in continuously from Monterey Bay.
The centerpiece of the Ocean's Edge Wing, is a 28-foot-high (8.5 m), 333,000-US-gallon (1,260,000 l; 277,000 imp gal) tank for viewing California coastal marine life. In this tank, the aquarium was the first in the world to grow live California Giant Kelp. Visitors are able to inspect the creatures of the kelp forest at several levels in the building. The largest tank in the aquarium is a 1,200,000-U.S.-gallon (4,500,000 l; 1,000,000 imp gal) tank in the Open Sea galleries (formerly the Outer Bay), which features one of the world's largest single-paned windows. It is one of the few aquariums to hold the ocean sunfish in captivity.
Sealife on exhibit includes stingrays, jellyfish, sea otters, and numerous other native marine species, which can be viewed above and below the waterline. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of very few in the world to exhibit both bluefin and yellowfin tuna. For displaying jellyfish, it uses a Kreisel tank, which creates a circular flow to support and suspend the jellies. The aquarium does not house mammals other than otters.
It's been about 15 years since I visited the aquarium. I was considering traveling from Los Angeles to see it again, but now that I came across your video, I no longer feel the need. This video covered every exhibit from so many angles and in such detail that I truly feel as though I was there. Whoever you are, your camera work is MASTERFUL, capturing such details as the distortion of glass at the edge of the tank to the workings of a periscope. Just wonderful! Thanks for posting and saving me the trip.

I was there in October of 2016. My camcorder had a low battery and I did not take as much film as I would have liked. This is exactly the way it was when I visited. I spent 3 days there, and I had the best time! My one and only drove me there and we stopped along the way and bought beef jerkey and other kewl items in a little store along the road. Thank you for this video! Wonderful memories for me.

@@zzHEXOx A century ago, an old man was traveling alone in France by train. A much younger man, who was sitting next to him, watched as the older man reached into his traveling case, took out a Bible and began to read. After a while, the younger man decided to strike up a conversation. "What are you reading?" he asked. "I am reading from the 6th chapter of Mark in the New Testament." "What does it say?" the young man asked. "It is the story of the miracle of the loaves and fishes. This gospel writer tells us about the vast crowd that had followed Jesus because of the signs He was performing for the sick. Jesus then preached to the crowd until it was dark and they were hungry. With only 5 barley loaves and a couple of dried fish, Jesus fed the entire crowd of 5,000. When the people had finished eating, the leftovers filled 12 baskets." A little scornful, the young man asked, "Do you really believe that?" "Yes, I do," came the reply, to which the younger man answered, "I can see that you have been brainwashed by ancient superstitions. That could never have happened to me. You see, I am a scientist. Everything that happens in this world can ultimately be accounted for scientifically. The story you have read defies the laws of science and therefore is sheer fantasy. Give me facts, provable facts. As a man of science, I can have no faith in miracles. But I cannot expect you to understand that." At this point, the train began to slow down. "Here is my station," said the young man as he rose from his seat. "It was nice talking to you, Mr., I'm sorry I didn't get your name." Where upon, the old man handed him his calling card bearing the name, Louis Pasteur, one of the world's greatest scientists.

When it first opened, when my kids were young and we had our family membership, the thing to do was to lay on the floor under the oval mackerel tank and watch them swim constantly around and around; makes you feel quite giddy, and that you were in the sea with them!!! As it gained fame and matured this became a place to wait your turn. Eventually, of course, it became impossible. Still,we have many fun memories and pictures. Cheers!

It has lot of variety of Sea 🌊 animals, but very unorganised and too much crowd. Instead of buying daily tickets, they need to sell tickets in terms of batches like for every 2 hours and also limit the number of people/tickets. Some chinese/japanese people stand for very long time and don’t move for others to see properly. The staff is not doing anything to solve this problem.

I've been twice and never actually got to enjoy it since each time it was shoulder to shoulder in there or I just decided not to go in cause the line is all the way down the street. Hopefully someday I get to go and actually enjoy myself

That place looks familiar. Wasn’t it featured in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home under a different name?
