I was lucky enough to spend a whole summer just at the bottom of the hill by Epidaurus. If my memory of Greek pronunciation is right it is something like Epeethavrow. I au paired for a family who had connections with the National Theatre of Greece, one of the actors a friend of the family lived with us and he told me all about the ancient plays that they recreate in the summer festival. It was such a memorable time.

This is good… I just spent a week in this region and all I saw was houses & apartments (looking to buy on the advise of Athenian friends) … saw all the signs for antiquities and ruins… will visit them next time

10:01 At the top of my head, Edinburgh Castle also has a commanding view, although not as high I think.

The steps to the fortress exactly same amount of steps up to whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire in uk. Landing place of Bram stoker's Dracula. Amazing views. There next week. On the tickybox list

If you're planning to visit Nafplio, check out a great book about its history, buildings and characters: "Nafplio: Biography of a Greek Town" by Matt Stanley. It has a guided walk and a load of information about the castles, the squares, the coastal walk and much more . . .
