Yo, LOVED y'all's reaction to this! One of my favorite videos from him, for sure. The guitar he's playing IS actually a Steve Vai signature, the "PIA," in "onyx black." It's actually not 5-7k like y'all were thinking - it sells brand new from Sweetwater for $3500. It's one of the guitars I'd like to add to my collection at some point. The color scheme is so brilliantly crafted on it. And all his pinch harmonics; not really THAT difficult, but you do absolutely have to have the right tone dialed in. I have the Blue Floral Steve Vai guitar (Jem 77BFP). I just bought not too long ago and did some aftermarket stuff to it. It's such an amazing guitar for lead and solo work. Matt cracked me up when he started talking about how much he hates Floyds. It's funny because I only play guitars with floating bridges. Fixed bridges always felt like a handicap, so I've stayed as far away from them as I can. I'd love to see a reaction to TheDooo's Uno video at some point. One of the funniest he's ever put out. Y'all's reaction to that one would be priceless. Keep up the good work, gentlemen! Y'all are awesome!

The technique guitarists use to make those squeals is called pinch harmonics. It lets you “hack” the guitar to jump a couple octaves by changing how the vibration/resonance works

The super high pinch harmonic was an accident. I have played 40 years and done it a couple of times. What happened was he was dong a normal pinch harmonic around the 12th or wherever, but the "Fleshy" part of his right palm hit the string at the same time right next to the bridge. It's almost impossible to replicate, and that's the only time I have ever seen him Dooo it, and I have watched almost all of his amazing work. Basically, the stars have to align to get it, lol. But it was sweet to hear again, as I have only heard it a few times in my life. Pro Tip: If you ever accidently do it, try not to freak out, and act like you meant it, lol. 🤘🤣

you can change the octave of a pinch by pinching the pick at different areas on the fretboard. hold a note and tap harmonic at different frets and youll hear a different pitch.

Always beware the contact high 😂 The Floyd Rose is the bridge system at the tail of the guitar. Instead of there being a solid chunk of wood and guide holes for the strings, they punch out an entire hole through the guitar, and the strings/bridge are all contained in a single unit. It’s supposed to be pretty damn legit for studio work and not falling out of tune, it’s just too advanced for me 😂
