Recently the final of one of the biggest One Loft Races in Southwest China, Guizhou Hong Feng, was held. This region is known for its tough pigeon races. The birds have to deal with several mountains. They have to fly ‘uphill’ too. The release spots are almost at sea level and their loft is located at an altitude of ca. 1300 meters.
In total more than 13,000 birds participated to this OLR. One week after winning the semi-final race against 6,233 pigeons (252 km, 1.409 m/m), the champion repeated its stunt by returning home first in the final race (5,128 pigeons, 450 km, 1.248 m/m)! On the two short races between the semi-final and final race, the checkered white flight cock entered the loft two times as first pigeon too. So he won 4 first prizes in a row on an important One Loft Race. We don’t think this has ever been done before. What a unique bird he is! Maybe the best OLR bird (in China) ever?
The mother of this fantastic winner is a Hok Jos Vercammen pigeon. She comes from a son to “Elektro”(BE08-6174630) coupled to a daughter of “Mustang”(BE14-6175237).
We had the honour to be invited by the board of the Hong Feng One Loft Race. We could visit the location of the one loft race where we could meet all the trainers and other staff. During a highly attended live broadcast, we could have a closer look at all the top winners and ace-pigeons of this One Loft Race. The highlight of the trip was the impressive gala night where all the winners were celebrated. This was really an amazing experience.
We could brainstorm with the Chinese breeder Mr. Duan about the name of his super pigeon and we chose the name “Eagle”(CHN2023-24-0257340). As a proud eagle he was the boss of the South-Chinese airspace this season.
“Eagle”(CHN2023-24-0257340) is a beautiful bird too, medium sized with a perfect wing. When you handle him, you can feel the “Mustang”(BE14-6175237) and “Elektro”(BE08-6174630) blood flowing through his veins.
