I have a pair of purple dumbo mosaic guppies and the female gave birth about a month ago to only 10 fry. So far the fry have developed some black patterns on their tails, some on their dorsal fins as well, and the males seem to have developed the iridescence on their backs. I'm also seeing some yellow in a couple of their tails too. Interesting to see what will happen with that. I'm also wondering if the female is ready to give birth soon, she's been extra feisty with the male lately. We'll see.

Hello. I don't use heaters during winter. It’s warm all year here. In general, the water temperature varies between 62 to 85 Farenheit (17 - 29 Celcius) all year. It could go a little higher or lower. Cheers.

@@fremiogermosen5339 well I've been culturing local wildcaught Daphnia for my Discus and Guppies for the last 6 months now. I've done various experiments with them. I cultured them alongside tubifex worms in a box and they multiplied like crazy. I raised them on Yeast like most hobbyists do and they worked just fine. I even kept them in green water made from the dirty water siphoned from discus tank and it worked as well. In order to understand the problem with your culture, I'll have to know some more details. But my general advice would be to 1) start with a jar culture instead of an outdoor one. For strange reasons if you culture in outdoor buckets, the culture is very likely to fluctuate. Perhaps it has something to do with sunlight and the weather. Sometimes they work really good sometimes it instantly crashes. Some KZbinr named Aquarimax has a video on how to culture daphnia in jar 2)Split the culture in various containers. Instead of having only one culture, have 2 or 3. So even if one crashes you can create a new one out of the existing. 3)try various foods. Most popular food options for daphnia are Yeast, green water and spirulina powder. 4) Bottom debris is very important. Although you can culture without it, but it is much more likely to succeed if there's debris at the bottom. You can use organic stuff like a cabbage leaf, fish potty, or even garden soil. I had this plant pot with garden soil in it and had rainwater standing in it, so I left some daphnia in it and they successfully multiplied without any food

Good Question. I prefer not to drill holes near the top of the tubs. Therefore, when it rains hard, I scoop water out of the tubs to prevent overflowing. I have to stand in the rain with an umbrella. lol. Take care.

Hi bro, don't worry about the loss of these Platinum red tail guppy you can cross breed the platinum red tail guppy with the Santa Claus guppy because they are very similar and at the maximum chances you may get the platinum red tail guppy with your favourite blue pectoral fin with the lots of red intense in caudal fin .... The Dark coloured male that you showed is called A Blue diamond guppy. Which is usually found in the platinum purple mosaic fries... Some of the fries also become red tailed and dragon tailed... Overall the purple mosaic is an unstable strain.. but im able to make it 90% stable.. Love from Kerala,India bro.. If you have any doubt regarding the strain correction feel free to contact...
