I was literally yelling at my monitor, "THIS IS THAT SCENE FROM THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES!" when I played it. So cool to see others had noticed it, too. Great film and a great game. Loved this homage.

@@zepuppet._.master Most Rockstar games are like that in terms of movie references. Apparently because cinema was the Houser brothers’ biggest passion, and they wanted to recreate it in this medium

And the clouds moving across the sky in the opening shot of the film like when Arthur sleeps at camp to mark the passage of time.

Also the scenes where Arthur is narrating or writing in his journal or having deer dreams, they are very inspired by the visual style of the movie

I'm fully convinced this film was the single biggest inspiration Rockstar had for the aesthetic language of the game.

Probably the most well done scene in gaming yet. I love how it goes from cinamatic to letting you take over once the train stops. Perfect scene... movie and the game.

RDR2 has a more quick and dirty feel to it and Jesse James has a more methodical and slower pace to it. i guess that's just Rockstar, they don't waste that much time and Andrew Dominik, Roger Deakins and their buddies takes their time to build up things. been a fan of Rockstar since GTA 2 and been a fan of Deakins and his buddies since 2014 when i studied movies more seriously. Deakins is seriously a master

Im a huuuge fan of Deakins. But I havent seen this movie until 4 months ago. Now that a friend was telling me about this part of the game (he is first playing it. I have played back in 2019) I was like "noooo waaay!! It has to be a homage!! And then I came to check if there was a comparision video! hahahahah cool, man! Luv it!!!

If you ever think of watching the movie, assuming you haven't yet, don't go into it expecting scenes of robbery like this. It's not like RDR, with gunfights around every corner. It's a very slow character driven movie but a great one still.

And this is why (even though i love RDR with all my heart) it should NOT be made into a Movie/Series... A LOT of Red Dead Redemption is derived from pre existing movies Micah Bell - Charlie Prince (3:10 to Yuma) Chapter 1 - Hateful 8 This train robbery - Assassination of Jesse James The list goes on
