Amazing RESTORATION of a Painted Chest of Drawers

I found this painted chest of drawers on the Facebook Marketplace and knew it needed a restoration. In this video I remove all the paint from the surface, apply new veneer, use gel stain, and spray water-based polyurethane. Let me know if you like the final look of this restored piece of furniture!

Oh tip I would suggest is next time you have veneer that's not missing but perhaps not glued down any more. You can use a needle to put glue and then clamp it you dry. You can save the veneer this way. But if you have a bunch of missing veneer it is certainly easier to redo it all. Just depends on how much you want to sink into the project. You did a fantastic, fantastic job. 😁

A great no-nonsense resto. Probably a smidgen better than when it was first made. Would have used a wipe-on finish myself - too lazy to clean up the spray equipment. Genuine thanks -- keep enjoying what you're doing (the most important thing) and share it with us when you can. Top drawer!

This one gives you something to work with. Not in the worst shape. I hear a lot of criticism in the way furniture was painted in weird colors, but it probably looked pretty good in their own choice of decor. I think it gets personal. An open mind is required! LOL!

Try using a chip brush to apply the paint stripper in the future. That rag or sponge didn't leave a thick enough coat of stripper which is why it dried out. Your plastic bag application seemed to be on point. Very beautiful restoration!
