Wow that is some impressive carving skills 😮🤩 Both chairs wood sections looked lovely once finished. I imagine the cane or upholstery will be completed by a specialist 😊 Altogether a beautifully done restoration and the customer seemed so pleased with the first result he brought you the second to show off your skills even more 😊

Beautiful chairs, and beautifully restored! Would it be possible to see the chairs you restore, after the new upholstery has been completed?
@TheRestorationGuyArie3 ай бұрын
Yes, but it takes quite some time before the upholstery is done by a specialist upholsterer. I jumped the gun.

He's sanding by hand! That should mitigate some of your concerns.

Beautiful! I have a few questions. Why didn't you sand and seal the caning? Or at least moisturize it with oil or wax? Doesn't the caning need periodic maintenance too?

Sanding cane would be risky, i feel. I waxed de caning but didn’t show with step in the video, my bad.

What about the cane? Why didn't you remove the upholstery from the second chair before sanding and refinishing the frame? That should have been your first step. The fabric is torn and will need to be replaced and now your new finish will likely get damaged in the process.

The cane is original and in great condition, there is no need to replace it. About removing the upholstery: you might be right, luckely i have a excellent professional upholsterer who, in my experience, won’t damage the finish when upholstering. Thanks fir your comments.
