A+ for showmanship. He must burn through stylus like crazy

He's not using a stylus.

@@dylvasey What do you think he uses then?
@dylvasey2 жыл бұрын
@@levi-5th I don't think anything. He uses Phase Essential. No stylus needed, not even a tonearm needed. Just how do you think he turned the turntable upside down without stopping the music? Watch this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2qxop99psajha8

@@dylvasey I totally understand why it seems like that but Phase started selling to the public in 2019. And this video is from 2016 and Ive seen him as far back as 2010. Ive never seen this particular guy (DJ Marky) do it but I have seen others do a similar trick. And they do it with a cigarette filter. They wedge it under the back of the tone arm were the weight is so it holds the needle down and the arm in place. And I was told cutting a piece of a pencil eraser to fit works really well. That's all I know about a possible explanation but there was no technology to eliminate the need for a stylus yet.

Also the dj I saw do it didn't go all the way upside down I only saw him stand it straight up and scratched a tone sound much like this video. He also smashed a beer can and poked a whole in the middle with an ice pick. Flipped the needle upside down and put a record on top so it played backwards.

Dj Marky! The sample he's using is found at 00:46! It's basically just noise turned into something very very special

Lol if that blew your mind, wait till you see a turntablist. 😂

Yeah but it's rare in DnB for people to do this. You could really get an advantage on competition by learning these skills 🤔

How does the sylus and tone arm stay where it is when the turntable is upside-down? Surely gravity would pull it down.

If it is dialed in correctly it will always want to press the needle on the vinyl

The correct answer is a small sponge under the tonearm weight causing light but constant pressure towards the platter so the arm doesn't lift. But it's a secret... Shh! 👍

Indistinguishable from a million other top scratch DJ’s bar the fact he’s not doing the upside down deck technique.
@D-Ted4 жыл бұрын
Apart from the fact he's actually scratching using timing and technique not just aimlessly cutting a constant tone in and out with the fader. No timing between the fader, the deck and the sample. Anyone could do that, even you. The upside down thing is just for show, there's no skill there. Might take a tiny bit of practice balancing the deck but that's it.
@wigsdanger4 жыл бұрын
Again, you’re saying its all show. Yes, He’s performing at a show. Not sure what point you’re trying to make. With regards to precise and note perfect scratching, not gonna happen when the deck is at that angle is it really. He’s showing off and its a sight to behold. Look at the guys rushing in for photos. Impressed all round. Then theres you 😑
