AMAZING SPIDER-MAN PIANO SUITE James Horner

As with many other James Horner scores I decided to transcribe & arrange a suite for piano, featuring several of my favourite cues. This audio is the playback file from the notation I created in Finale - not me actually playing. It's a decent enough sound but obviously lacks any performance expression.
The news was disappointing that Horner wasn't scoring the sequel, I really liked what he did here in making a modern blockbuster score actually sound like a score and not sampled wallpaper. But it will be interesting to see if Hans Zimmer incorporates any of Horner's material at all. The cues featured are:

James Horner was an INCREDIBLE composer. His work shines over most others. He is deeply missed. I bet he's still writing, orchestrating and conducting for God. RIP James.

Agreed - if it weren't for Horner's choice of instrumentation and style of composition then I wouldn't have bothered with this suite. The trumpet was absolutely refreshing, as was an actual theme and all its variants. The typical pounding drums of a modern action score has become so tiresome, as has that cello ostinato that Zimmer & clones love to use all the time, so this was a pleasant departure from those wallpaper scores. More trumpets!!!

This is amazing, great work. At first i hated the score. But the more I saw the movie the more I fell in love with it. The score fits brilliantly and it is now the score I think of when I think of spiderman. I especially love the love them melody which then becomes "I cant see you anymore" I would love to hear a variation of that one from you.

To be honest, I really liked Zimmers new theme aswell. Both scores suit the movies but the first has a more epic badass feel. It feels wreckless and cocky. TASM1 feels emotional and relaxed. I like them both but I think they need to stick with one

I totally disagree, I think Hanz Zimmer absolutely shitted on the Spiderman movies.... James Horner's the best in my opinion and right after that comes Danny Elfman.... Im not saying Hanz Zimmer made a bad track, but it is definetly bad for a Spiderman movie, thats all Im saying

Ali Saiyan I agree with both of your comments. I like the James Horner theme and the Hans Zimmer theme. All the creative decisions made in the first film was discarded for a 'classic' version of Spidey. I loved it but it didn't suit the franchise and distanced it from this reboot's original theme.

Sucks that Horner isnt returning, but I trust in Hans Zimmer to do good. I hope Zimmer keeps the main theme, because this is by FAR the best superhero theme in a long time...after Kick-Ass (Thor 2, and Iron Man 3 were pretty badass)

Too bad he didn't keep it... The new one is really good too though. The main issue with it is that there isn't any prominent theme that's recognizable and memorable. Like, in this OST, you KNOW when the main theme is playing. And there are multiple variations of the main theme. No such thing really in the new OST.

hyperbolicether I love how Horner's always developed his themes, and particularly in this score you rarely hear the same version twice, yet it becomes familiar in all it's guises. Zimmer seems to have abandoned this technique!

This is just absolutely amazing. It is a massive shame that you aren't handing out sheet music for it because it is superb and it would be amazing to learn so other people and enjoy as well. i especially enjoy Oscorp Tower that is on of my favorite pieces from the movie.
