Artie, to reduce the possibility of scratching tools, just add a strip of leather to the outside. It works great!

I've got the same sollution under my work bench for a while now. I like it. I glued on a thin piece of leather on top of the magnets so it looks pretty and doesn't scratch the tools. Magnets are strong enough to go through the leather, just. The only downside I find is that the needles are getting magnetized, but it's not that bad. Top tips as usual sir!

So harbor freight was my first stop when I saw the phone magnets you used with needles. I figured when Im making bags and wallets or anything with multiple stitch runs to thread up as many pair of needles as I can for every run and set them in order I will use them in. Love how much more efficient it has made my work go.

@@MasconLeather I have those attached to two of my bakers racks with my table in between. Everything imaginable is hanging on those bars. I also employ the old metal filing cabinets under my desk and surrounding sides. Mag bars love those cabinets.

Art, would you consider making a ladie’s wallet? Not a long wallet. Have ID window. 8 CC slots facing inward so nothing falls out, and a pocket underneath each side for bills. RFID safe and a gradiated strap for closure. Coinpurse on outside. I love multi colors and copper rivets. 😊

I sewed canvas tubes to cover my magnet strips. Duckcloth brand. Works great putting fancier tools on them. Just fold a long piece in half. Sew one long edge. Put a safety pin on an end to pull inside out. Easy solution.

There are these surgical tools called "hemostat", you can buy, they are specifically made to hold onto needles and arteries/veins etc. (My medical surgical knowledge is from veterinary and limited emergency human care) Anyways. It's what i use instead of the pliers or pullers to help you save needles.

Hmm, I would not trust myself with those strips and that limb skiving knife, nor the heavier tools. I have four of those magnet strips from harbor freight I use for files and various things on a wall, but they are not strong enough for dangerous stuff. I make knife racks out of slabs of wood with hard drive magnets set in them. The 1/8 inch of wood in front of the magnet makes the sticking force about right. Anyway, think about those tools falling before they do rather than in mid air, lol.

Why not throw a thin piece of felt, leather, fabric across the magnet front? just enough to avoid scratchin'? (probably makes not sticky enough or you'd have done it)
