Really nice and smart design for Giant. In the past D-Fuse was a deal breaker for me. Another deal breaker from other companies is adding suspension onto these bikes. I love how simple they’ve kept it. Love the standard headset and spacers. 👍

Agree with earlier comments that weight incorrect. I bought size small (I'm 5ft 7ins) but understand M is 9.56kg without pedals! PX2 wheelset are very heavy duty, I believe approx 2.5kg (haven't weighed myself). If using as road and have around 750 bucks - if only! :( - for carbon wheels could save approx 1kg and Panracer GK slicks another 200g over heavy Crosscuts.

Thanks for the review, that’s the bike I ordered and should be getting in a few weeks. I upgraded the wheels to cxr-2 carbon wheels and upgraded the tires also. Can’t wait to get it, it seemed one of the best deals on the market right now

Just ordered mine, but have no experience with bikes, yet. how can I think about possible upgrades of tires etc. do you mind sharing your thoughts? so far, I only ordered a metro lite rack and fenders. thanks!
@ElyxStudio2 жыл бұрын
@@0301chris1 I would think about upgrades there being 2 kinds. Purpose driven and nice to have. Purpose would like for me changing the tires to maxxis receptors was because I ride hard packed dirt roads and light gravel plus tarmac so this made sense. Buying bags if you do bike packing is also purposely driven. Changing the saddle if the one on the bike doesn’t fit you is the same purpose driven upgrades. Getting the lighter wheels I got was mostly to shave some weight, so not something really that was needed. Do first, you should ask yourself what you want to do with your bike and equip it to meet your needs. If you have spare money, go for what tickled you. Hope this helps

Is this fast using mainly as a road & commuter bike. Obv you can put road tyres on but intending just using the stock tyres? Replacing my road bike and loved the speed on this but want the option to occasionally go off road. Don't want to make the wrong type of of bike choice but do not feel safe on my road bike in winter and this will do a lot better on the river trail I sometimes use. Would you get this if using it mainly for commutes? A work colleague was recommending hybrids but figure this should perform as well on roads and a lot better offroad. An answer from James or any cyclists using this would be greatly appreciated.

@0301chris12 жыл бұрын
Finally got mine; not very happy with the bike: Giant accessories (fenders, racks etc) are very badly designed, and manuals do not explain how to mount them to newer bikes. Mounting Giant fenders and a rack was a nightmare . Rack - I have no clue how to mount it, no manual, no explanations - there is one very long You tube video by some guy but this may not apply to the 2022 bike. Fenders are fragile and come with very soft screws that wear out easily and because they don't really fit this bike's drill holes very well, several got stuck and I had to use pliers and force to remove them. Giant did mount the front derailleur so that the support belt does not touch the frame and hangs in the air left of the frame. That is probably why they do not even bother to attach the backup plate despite clear Shimano instructions! Had I known about these issues, I would have avoided this bike.

@@jbwillson Agreed, I really miss my Defy Advanced in that regard (a 2015 model). Switched to an alloy Domane for winter riding and man that thing just beats me up. So looking at going to a Revolt or the current Defy Advanced in spring, main requirement is 32mm tyres plus mudguards, which is borderline on the Defy.
