Great design! Would you be able to put threads on the end of the pipe handle for a screw-on pipe end? I’d be afraid of the plug type coming off unexpectedly.
@Alvawelding204 ай бұрын
Thank you. That's a great suggestion, but this device is also quite sturdy. I don't think it's necessary to shoot screws because it will be inconvenient when you get nails or other materials you need to put in there

One issue I see is a hammer handle is not round. The handle is oval, this helps index the face of the hammer. Might not be much of an issue if you only strike 2 or 3 blows but I'm a blacksmith and would strike hundreds of blows an hour. The plastic pipe should be pretty good at absorbing the shock though. I make my handles from Boise De arc wood, toughest wood in North America. Some call it Osage orange or horse Apple. Hickory and ash make good handles but they're not near as durable.

I should have specified using ‘super~glue’ on the ‘faces’ of wood mallets I’ve turned…no need on metal which I haven’t turned or refurbished. FYI : being curious, I called J B WELD in Texas and they assured me that a shaft set into a wood mallet head would NEVER break at that joint ! ….the elderly spokesperson was noticeably worried that I was after their proprietary formula ! Fond conversation.

Useless repair, a hammer handle should NEVER be round! Everybody who gave this a like knows nothing about tools!

@@Alvawelding20 It' is NOT my perspective, it's a fact - show me one hammer made by a manufacturer that has a round handle!
@MaxGiganteum5 ай бұрын
@joepkortekaas8813... Show me a law that says a hammer handle has to be a shape other than round! First off, I find it bizarre that your complaint was the newly made handle is round instead of being made out of wood which is the traditional material for a hammer handle. Secondly, hammer handles come in a variety of shapes, some of which are close to being round - especially near the bottom of the handle. While hardly being optimal, a round handle is still a handle which is far better than what the author of the video started with which was a busted off handle thus making the hammer useless for its original purpose. Next, you don't seem to give a flying rip that the plastic handle is straight. How is this bad? It perpetuates vibration from the hammer head down the handle and into your hand which is exactly why traditional handles are still made of wood and they are mostly made in a non-concentric shape from top to bottom... often with a slight curve which tends to kill vibration by default. Lastly, which handle a hammer has is the best left to the personal preference of those who use it. Perhaps the owner of the handle is perfectly happy with it... and if you're going to inject your thoughts on it into the comments section, you could do it in a more constructive fashion. Think about it! - Max Giganteum PS For the record, I would advise never to use a handle such as what was made in the video. I do recognize however, that sometimes you work with what you have at the time. I would still recommend the author to take the time out to manufacture a wooden handle.
