Rajnagar contains many tea gardens and historical places. Upazila is divided into eight union parishads: Fatehpur, Kamarchak, Mansur Nagar, Munshi Bazar, Panchgaon, Rajnagar, Tengra, and Uttarbhag. The union parishads are subdivided into 143 mauzas and 267 villages. It is suggested that the area was inhabited by Buddhists and Hindus as evidence from inscriptions suggests there was an ancient university in Panchgaon, Rajnagar.
