Hey, Doc! Thank you so much for this conversation! My childhood doctor, who lived to almost 100, used to tell my mother that everyone should go outside and put their hands and feet in the dirt every day. He also said kids should play outside and get dirty every day, because it's good for the immune system. That was back in 1975. He delivered my mother and father...and myself and my 4 siblings! Great human being, like yourself, Sir!

I watched the entire conversation with Dr Khansarinejad and found it so stimulating and exciting. It inspired that natural high one may experience in deep conversations concerning philosophy, theology, astronomy and the cosmos, and other disciplines. The episode is as much an indulgence as it a useful scientific discussion on a current global topic. Thank you, Dr Campbell for your fine channel of honest discussion concerning Covid-19 issues. The prevailing narrative is not scientific, in my view, as it relies on assumptions being imposed as directives. It's not really science unless such assumptions are tested for viability, as you do using the data. Such application of a scientific method is required not only medically, but also in the social sciences, which are also in play as a result pandemic changes in our societies. Sadly, the US and Europe are hostile to simple, yet critical, questions; which is why you and your discussions on this channel are so important. Blessings to you moving forward, Dr Campbell.

Holy Moley! That was an absolutely amazing conversation! Thank you to you both! To realize that 30% of our genome is of viral origin is mind-blowing. So, to invent a general antiviral, if at all possible, would be very dangerous to life?? I need to sleep on that idea. Anyway, Dr Campbell and Professor Khansarinejad, I wish you both a very Happy New Year. You both are a blessing.

Well, there are plenty of general antiviral substances but you usually use them to clean your bathroom. I dont think there are many viruses that thrive in plenty of strong acids or bases. Really the ideal would be something relatively harmless to your tissues, but very harmful for viral particles, which we also know about. Alcohol. However, disinfecting your upper respiratory tract with alcohol isnt very popular, tho it WOULD work. There are quit effective therapies against viral infections that require you to do swishes of antiviral liquids. They are also used to treat covid relatively effectively. You arent really allowed to talk about it tho, because anything alternative to tje vaccine causes vaccine hesitancy and is therefore unethical or something like that.

It is amazing that not even the most qualified doctors don't know what viruses really are, nor where they come from. But it seems to be clear that they are transmitted from our parents, we share them between individuals of the same species and are essential for both animal and vegetal living creatures. Seems like they are not living entities but the basics for every single form of life. We know from them because some illnesses are transmitted by them, they are famous for that but they are what allows life to exist, essential for every single living creature, and fortunately only VERY few are bad for our health.

I tend to think of both viruses and bacteria (the ones that live on and in our bodies, as well as the viral genome segments that exist in our DNA), as a type of supportive scaffolding. For example, it is known that the number of bacteria that live on, and in our bodies, greatly outnumbers the body cells of our body. It is also known that we could not live without them. So they act as a type of scaffolding, helping to keep all the body cells working properly. Then, the viruses that live on those bacteria, support them as well. It's like a multi-layered balance of incredibly complex processes, that we probably will never fully understand. And every single bit of all of it, is programmed/encoded on the genomes of each. So my question is not "where" or "how" did these insanely complex things come to exist, but instead, my question is "Who wrote all of that code?" If you look up and read the entire genome of the SARS-CoV2 virus (available online), you will see that thousands of lines of code are there for EACH specific protein that must be produced and used for a specific purpose by the virus. And there are Hundreds of individual programs that code for hundreds of proteins for the virus, each with a very specific purpose. So who wrote this code?? This is the information that should be in question, not where the physical end product (the physical virus itself) came from, but those thousands of lines of coded information on it's genome.

@@trevorjameson3213 I have asked myself the same questions. I cannot believe the fictional novel that life has made by itself. Somebody very smart must have written all that complex code, for sure although I'm not very religious to say the truth. I don't buy the dominant idea of evolution, that I refuse to call theory. It seems to me that species do not evolve descending from common ancestors. They do not diverge, but they converge. We seem to be coming from at least two different species, Cromagnons and Neanderthals, most probably we are hybrids from many different humanoid species. Very much like us being hybrids between neardental and cromagnon probably all millions species today are hybrids from many more number of millions of species that the number of species exisiting today. Old species did not extinct but they just interbreed to create new hybrids. Instructions coded in viruses must have been playing a key role when cells of other species were trying to copy viruses resulting in mutant viruses or better said hybrid viruses. I agree with you, except that I wouldn't say that viruses "live" inside our body because, unlike bacteria, they are not living creatures because as far as we know they are not born, they don't grow, they don't reproduce (unless not by themselves), and they do not die. Seems like nobody knows where they come from nor where they go other than to other cells which, unlike them, are living entities. They don't match the definitions of living creatures like bacteria, animals and plants, and anything in between like fungi and some other difficult to classify vegetal/animal creatures.

Viruses are complex molecular structures that are created, mutate, move about, are constantly travelling around the planet on dust and raining from the sky, replicate themselves, and die. They also share genetic material between each other. I would say that they are alive, like bacteria are alive. A recent survey found that there are about 55,000 different species of viruses in the human body. There are many more viruses in a human body than human cells. Most viruses live off of and balance the large number of bacteria which exist in every type of human tissue, including the eye, brain, gut, etc.. Without viruses, humans would die within hours due to unchecked bacterial growth. A German pathologist analysed the bodies of many people who were diagnosed as dying of the flu virus. In 93% of cases he found no flu viruses. The people actually died of bacterial pneumonia or other causes. When people are diagnosed as dying of Covid 19, the actual cause of death could be a cytokine storm (auto immune disorder), a flu virus, a cold virus, a bacterial infection, a reaction to Remdesevir and the immune system depressing anaesthetic and other drugs given during intubation, lung tissue damage caused by ventilators, immune system suppression caused by a wide variety of commonly prescribed prescription drugs, immune system senescence, vitamin D deficiency, malnutrition, dehydration, vaccine induced immunodeficiency, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular disorders, chronic kidney disease, obesity, dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, psychosomatic disease, an adverse reaction to vaccination, or a combination of the above. In the absence of the Sars Cov 2 virus, perhaps most or all of these people would have died anyways, except those who died because they were given Remdesevir and intubated, which could be the cause of death for many people who were hospitalized and treated for Covid 19.

@@merlinsaintgermain2748 Viruses are not living creatures and cannot replicate by themselves, living cells make copies of them instead. They cannot die because they were not living in the first place. They seem to be just instructions coded like programs written for computers.

Thanks, Dr. John and Prof. Khansarinejad, for educational fun. I’ve considered viruses an immensely fascinating aspect of life on Earth (and its evolution), since the very first lectures I heard about comparative biology. Indeed, I believe that viruses rank among the earliest things we.could term organisms, just after the sequestration of “inner / outer” by membranous structures on “inert” microporous substrates. Bacteria have their viruses, too (our mitochondria might stem from primordial, symbiotic bacteria). Ribosomes, Centromeres, Fibrils, even exo- / endocytosis could well be viral in origin!
