This was pretty much the only major concern with my E320 CDI. Was very glad to hear that they did this. Now I do not have any worries. When the pump goes, no big deal. I'll get a new upgraded pump for free. Mercedes is a great company. I am very appreciative. This vehicle is incredible.

Any failure in the CAN network , and you insert the pads, once and no fingers, when sbc is truly deactivated it doesn’t matter whether the car is open or closed, or any other actions with the car will never force the SBC to chop off your fingers, for real misers, it's safer to just turn off both batteries

I did mine just by disconnecting the service battery to disable SBC. The problem I have is that after changing full set of discs and pads on front and rear, the rear discs are almost locked up and the car is not driveable (discs heat up). Front ones are fine. I tried your deactivation and reactivation, I think it worked, although I didn't get the rear light flashing. This didn't fix the rear brake locking though. Any ideas ? I wonder if its the caliper pots sticking because they have been wound right back to fit accommodate the new discs and pads. I have seen other report this problem, so possibly the calipers need a repair kit or replacement. Then the problem is how to bleed without STAR......

@@Raaaphael that's amazing, my AMG master Tech told me that's all I needed to do, that's what I did when I replaced front and rear brakes on my 2005 SLK 55 AMG and it runs and shifts just fine in all three modes. SBC is essentially ABS, I have no codes and no ESP warning light unless I shut it off. I don't have electronic E brake but I believe cars that do have a means to retract and disable it in commands. If you had a negative experience maybe you inserted your key before reconnecting your SBE unit, that might cause errors and other issues. Based on the information I got from my Master Tech and my actual experience I'm convinced he was right.

Тут только шамана с бубном не хватает. Что за бред? Просто отсоедените фишку контактов SBC возле блока. А лучше отключите 2 аккумулятора: сначала задний, потом передний по схеме сначала -, потом +. Подключаем в обратной последовательности. Всё. Но это крайние меры, костыль так сказать. Такие работы, конечно, нужно производить со старом и спец оборудованием, тормоза прокачать, убедиться в правильном давлении на каждый контур.

Sorry but big waste of time! Its not a big mystical mystery. Ive worked on my brake system many times by simply unplugging the the electrical connector to the SBC pump. Never had a problem. And i do not disconnect the cars battery. No codes or fault or problems. As long as you do not "wake" the car up while its unplugged you will be fine and SBC can no longer activate. Just follow this simple proceedure. "Before" unplugging SBC, open your hood so as to have access to SBC unit and brake fluid reservoir. Jack up your car before you unplugging SBC because you car alarm knows when car is being jacked up (theft) and then car would wake up . I push the jack up button inside the car by front map lights to prevent alarm. Allows jack up mode. Roll down your windows in case you need to reach inside car for whatever. Shut and Lock all doors. Move the keys at least 50 feet away from car because car alarm can sense key if near car like within 12 feet. Now go for a 15 minute break so as to let all car systems fall asleep. Now you can go in and unplug the SBC unit and work on your brakes....do whatever. Just dont open any doors or anything that would wake the car up. Dont close or open the hood while sbc is unplugged either because hood has electric sensor too. When your done reconnect the SBC plug. You could alternately do this by disconnecting battery but thats a bit of a headache because then gotta do all the preset dances for steering angle sensor, sunroof and windows radio. Just not necessary. All baloney warnings about unplugging SBC are BS and people who claim that have done something wrong to cause the problem.
