hi, I have a 2018 GLS450 mercedes. The halogen H7 headlights are horrible. I didnt realize the car did not have HID headlights until after I leased the vehicle a few weeks back. I was told by mercedes and others (auto places who specialize in car modifications) that if I try to install HID kit, or LED kit that a dashboard error will show, and computer will have to be reset. Is there a work-a-round. $87K mercedes with halogen lights and not even additional fog lights for extra lighting. Please help with any suggestions! thank you..

Hi again, you show us to never give up. Respect! Unfortunately, here in the US hardly anyone knows what a file is anymore. I used a grinder and I came up with pretty much the same scheme as you did. May the Bosch/Hella engineers roast in hell for designing these headlights that no one can get to. And that crazy holder clamp. Still love the car. Drive carefully

forgot to say, your internal headlight wiring harness is dissolving, that is a known problem. To replace that harness you need to find the detents on that larger connector where the chassis wiring connects to the headlight assembly. That switch can be pushed into the headlight assembly and then one can pull the harness out and replace it. I don't know if its possible to replace the harness with the headlight in place, I removed them from the car for that. No need to pull off the lens for that.

Tip: If you are you using an LED bulb, the dust cover needs to have holes in it or remove it completely so that the LED can breathe. It produces more heat than a halogen.

i have a 2003 mercedes w211 e220 cdi i preordered adaptors with my led headlights . i use tyc headlights and found out that i dont need the adaptors cause headlights have a clip its easier . First see how the halogen clips on the headlight and what type of headlight u have then order leds and adaptors some times its easier to fit.

This is not how we should modified that bulb holder for the Mercedes Benz headlight they should make it PLUG NAD PLAY. It works but too much time . you guys show a good video and I like it but I don't wanted to do like that. I've bought these Led headlight for my w204 and I can't install it they don't fit and have modified the bulb holder why don't they make one to fit Mercedes Benz headlight without having to do all those stuff ? So I go with Hid headlight and still use that bulbs holder too and it fit good but it's kind of hard to plug it in too but it works with no errors .

Yes you are right. To install these lamps, you need to change the mounting. On the dipped beam I installed I can not install into the high beam.

Why did Mercedes try to reinvent the wheel with that little clip? They built the most difficult light bulb to replace. I just picked up an 05 cdi. I've had many diesel Mercedes, and I like this car, but the use of plastics is disheartening. Especially critical engine parts like the oil filter housing. Over use of technology has detracted from what I remember owning a Mercedes was all about. Like come on, really, a fuse block that needs to be programmed. Rediculuos, over complicated, and it's only purpose is to prevent electrical fires from dead shorts.
