I work in a steel mill now for 30 years and we do everything from producing raw iron to high-end cold rolled flat steel for several big players in the car industry. And yes we produce long stripes like this too on 3 big machines build in the 60s and 70s and what I see here is absolutely idiocracy. Dangerous? Leathel accidents are not a question. The complet handling, of the material and machines, is absolutely dangerous!

@iamgriff such a handling and safety ignorance is more 1890. Our integrated chopping and splitting workshop was build in the 60s and 70s, the main cold rolling facility with four waltz stands in the 70s but even there the, before the fall of the wall, the standards were high.

@@nidhoggvomwalde2280 you sir are exactly correct. The reasons for this squalor is Aa caste system in which the poor classes have no chance of working their way out of the situation. Most of these shops are family owned The child isn’t allowed to attend school. They start working in the shop at an early age and stay there. As they gain experience, they move up the ladder of less difficult work. I think the worst jobs are those that break ships. It’s way worse than these shops.

Which no one realised when they took it apart for transport. When we reassembled the engine, we had major trouble getting nuts and bolts to match and fit well, as each one was a slightly different size.
