Another day of our trip to the Amazon. On that day, our guide Daniel harvested the açaí, or we can say the açaí harvest.
The trees are very tall, but he climbs with incredible ease, using the sock on his feet. The descent is impressively very fast. Then the açaí is prepared in the community. Children like to eat even the whole fruit. And they drink it straight without adding anything. We have a lot to learn from the inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest.
Harvesting açaí in the Amazon rainforest is a process that requires skill and knowledge from the region's natives. To harvest the fruits, one has to climb the açaí palm trees and, using a machete, cut the clusters containing the small purple berries. It is hard work, as the palm trees can reach 25 meters in height and the collection is done manually, without using the equipment provided. After being collected, the açaí is processed and can be consumed in the form of juice, cream or other preparations typical of the Amazon region.
