Really excellent biotope. You have opened my imagination to many more species for my jungle tank. I have great success with the African jungle pond plants, esp aponogetons. They are large, delicate, and dramatic.

I like the simplicity of this tank. The fish looks totally happy!

Muck in the water is good. The fish are probably feeding off all that. Very successful and the fish are happy.

if you have a translucent hard acrylic/PVC tube you can aim and drop the food in, it helps target feed bottom dwellers :)

will the twigs rot? should you remove it if it's rotting or leave'em be? or is there any treatment beside boil it in a hot water?

Do you use 100 percent of OR water or a mix of tap and OR? Looks amazing!! Do you add any minerals?

Great video man! Love the biotope. Does the leaf litter break down? Do you ever have to remove the leaf litter? Would floating plants survive in these conditions since they are above and closer to the light?
@janikarhila91285 жыл бұрын
I never remove the leaf litter. Floating plants would survive just fine. I use Salvinia and Pistia.

What's the best media filter to use for a blackwater aquarium?
@JHAquatics5 жыл бұрын
I would use biological ceramic rings and aquarium grade charcoal.

This is a biotope based aquarium.. A true biotope is made from natural resources....things collected from the body of water, plants ,rocks, fish, wood etc....very nice tank, it's looking good but this is not an actual biotope..what would've been awesome would be if you collected these things from peru as well as the fish..then you would have a biotope... Rachael O'Leary explains the difference on one of her last videos...her tanks are biotope based tanks as well but are not exactly biotopes....love the channel..I look forward to the next video

Most all of those fish were collected by me in Peru ( goo.gl/QanzLx ) with the exception of the Angels which were collected by someone else. All the botanicals are found in the region But collected here in the Caribbean. Coconut palm, catappa, mangrove, tan tan, and the seed pods can all be found in the jungle of Peru. Biotope aquarium : man-made ecosystem in a home or exhibition aquarium, created on the basis of knowledge, received from the researching of a nature biotope. Elements of the environment and living organisms should be selected correctly and grouped from the point of view of design, viability and belonging to a biotope.

Yes I understand that you can find those in Peru...but the fish were all that were collected....check out Rachael's video about it..she explains what I am saying very well..her entire aquarium room is biotope recreations....that's what I meant....would be a true biotope if you collected everything from peru....your tanks are awesome and this particular one is looking like a biotope..but it's a biotope recreation.....
