The crackling paint problem usually comes from using too heavy a coat of paint, or adding additional coats before the previous one is thoroughly dry. One trick I've learned is that I often get a better paint job by using satin primer instead of actual paint. The primer dries faster, streaks and drips far less, and dries to a nice eggshell sheen. I have found the Krylon primer in white, black, grey, brown, and red oxide. The red oxide is a sort of rust or russet color, and is quite nice on doll furniture you want to have the look of red mahogany wood tones. A coat of primer BEFORE you add paint can also help prevent crackling later. Also, use thin coats that dry well between to help prevent dripping, running, and crackling. A lot of miniaturists don;t use Krylon paint at all because it can crackle on plastics. So I advise that if you use spray paint, be sure it's the kind that's formulated for plastics, use primer under it, and use primer instead of paint whenever possible.

I got this at a discount store for 25 bucks . I took the toleit out and the background out (witch almost broke my fingers because it was the hardest piece of cardboard to remove from literally any dollhouse. Ever ) And turned it into the liveing room and the breakfast nook into the bathroom . Im amazed how smaller each house gets each year . Next year the toleit will be in the kitchen im sure . Lol .... I hope the tiny barbie homes get way better in quality soon ...

I’ve never seen that frosted glass at dollar tree 🙁. That fridge and fireplace you made are so good. Great job! I hope you do more room/dollhouse renovations

Fantastic work! Great tip for the Dollar Tree frosted glass. Great use of space and color. I like how you covered the toilet. It's not even noticable that it's missing because the hamper fits in so perfectly😊

The paint would crackle because of smudges from your hands. Oil from skin will do that at times. Wipe off with alcohol wearing gloves before you paint will cut down on that I believe. Also the other comment on spraying too heavy or too soon. I’ve seen that too. Awesome ideas. Keep the creativity flowing

Why some people are so obsessed by painting every doll item in white, grey or black for a "realistic" look when in real life it's not like that? For example my house it's full of colored stuff bought in real life furniture and home supply stores.
