The Amazon Echo 3rd Gen has a feature that all before it doesn't have, the headphone jack on the back is also an input jack, this can open up some possibilities for other uses from this smart speaker, let me introduce you to some use cases.
Syncwire 3.5mm Nylon Braided Aux Cable

He is an excellent instructor. He speaks slow enough to understand but doesn't drag it out. I really like the additional close-ups pictures of the items that he's discussing and then he reviews. I have enjoyed this video and can't wait to hear some more.

I agree, its not an easy task to put all of that information into an easy to understand video. Nice job. I do have one question that im not sure if you adressed or even needed to, but maybe. Is it possible to use as the output to a second speaker and still use the echo as a first speaker, i.e both together. I hope you understant what I mean, as i said, its not easy to explain. :) P.s. I dont care if its stereo or two mono channels.

hi, currently I'm looking at creating a stereo pair system in my bedroom with 2 echo dots 3rd gen and connecting those to two larger speakers I have. through the stereo pair if the right and left channel was connected to a speaker would the echoes still provide each speaker they were connected to with those channels. so if I got 2 echo dots and created a stereo pair there would be a left and right channel but if I connect the right and left speakers each with a bigger more powerful speaker would those channels still output through the equos to the bigger speakers like the right speaker would output its right channel through the right bigger speaker and same with the left?

Already learned more from your videos then from any other concerning Amazon Echo. However, if I may, I would have some additonal questions. My scenario: I have a PC and two Echo Studio, the soundcard has one Toslink Cable and an 3,5 Output. If I use the Toslink into one of the two studios - would it still connect to have stero playback? Would it also support Dolby Atmos? As there are cables that split 3,5 into right and left - do I have to expect any shortcomings (still no Dolby Atmos, poorer Soundquality, sync issues)? .... thanks a lot in advandce! .... really like your videos as the get to the point and beyond what others are usually covering.

This should help you out BlueRigger 1x2 Toslink Digital Fiber Optic Audio Splitter 1 Male Input 2 Female Output - amzn.to/2KnUfh3 As far as the Dolby Atmos, that audio signal doesn't transmit over optical.

What would I need to use to output an Echo device's audio to two older speakers that use 2 wire inputs each? I assume there is an aux cable that can split the left and right audio and then an adaptor that can connect that to the speakers but I cannot seem to find them.

Hey Chard, Great video. I just bought an Echo Dot (Gen 2) and hooked it up to my Sony Receiver via the 3.5/RCA stereo cable. For some reason the sound is muffled and has an echo (no pun intended). I tried 2 different cables. I tried plugging the cable into 2 different inputs (Phono and CD), but it still sounds really bad (unlike CD's, which sound great on my system). Any suggestions??? Thanks

Thanks for the clear explanations. One question: I have an Echo Studio and an Echo. It doesn't say what Gen, but it has the 3.5mm aux / mini optical-line in. Just doesn't seem to want to play when I feed a sound stream from my Huawei P20 through the 3.5mm stereo cable. Tried increasing vol on both Hawei and Echo Studio. Nothing comes out. Additonally when I navigate the mobile app as you show in your video the AUX Audio does not show up for the Echo Studio I have. However, I also have an Echo and its menu does have the ability to switch from In to Out. Does this mean my Echo Studio above is only Audio in with no Audio out ? If so, is there a command to tell the Echo Studio to switch on the Aux in sound or should it come on automatically ?

The best way to accomplish what you are doing is to use the new FireTV 4k max plugged into the HDMI ARC port. Plugging the 4k max into the arc port allows your device to be recognized as a receiver to allow pass though from anything connected to the TV. This will allow you to take full advantage of the ATMOS sound passed through HDMI cables into the TV
@bhpersonal
@bhpersonal 2 жыл бұрын
I tried the FireTV 4K Max and HDMI Arc streaming to 2 Gen 4 Echo's as a stereo pair and an Echo Sub. The handshake was very hard to make happen. I finally got one channel of audio through one of the Echo's and gave up and returned the FireTV 4K Max. Way more trouble than it's worth and not ready for prime time, at least for what I was trying to do. A simple 2.1 setup shouldn't be so hard to set up.

So from what I am understanding you are trying to connect the projector, TV, and PS4 to the Echo studio for audio. Well to make that possible you are going to need more than a cable. You going to need this Audio Control Switch Box ( amzn.to/31vSW5x ). You are going to plug the audio from all sources in this box and then plus the Echo Studio into the out of this box. The type of cable needed is all going to the depend on the source but I left links in the video desc to get you started. Note on end of the cable must be RCA. Let me know if this helps or if you need help finding cables.

Okay William, once the connect the cable into the Echo Dot it cut off the sound from coming out of the Echo Dot speakers, so even when you turn off the PC speakers as long as the cable is plug into the Dot, the sound will not return back to the Dot speakers. So if you are going to turn off the PC speakers unplug the cable from the Dot to hear Alexa from the Dot.

I have the Echo 4th Gen with the audio in and out port. My tv does not have Bluetooth. I have connected my TV to the Echo with the proper cable and set the Echo setting to audio in. When I initially did this it worked. My tv sound was playing through the speaker. However, it’s now stopped working and I can’t figure out why. I’ve double checked the setting. Tried unplugging and restarting both tv and Echo. Any ideas?

To have multiple Echos play together wireless, all you need to do is set them up in a group - that's the easy way

Great Vid Chard. You rock! I actually tried to plug in my computer speaker system. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack wire that I can plug right into my phone and listen to music on the speakers. I tried to hook it into my Echo Studio and no music would play through. So, I unplugged it and then my Studio speaker itself would no longer work. I ended up having to unplug it and recalibrate the whole thing to get it to work. All that said, what happened? Do I have to go into the Alexa app to make changes? I wouldn't think so, because you should be able to pop in a set of headphones and they should instantly work. So shouldn't the computer speaker system. Sigh Thanks in advance for your ideas and help. = )

The Echos come ready with the jack setup for output, you would have to go into the Alexa app to reverse it input. From that point on it should work until you switch back to output.

I had just one obstacle along the way. Your device must be online (connected to Wi-Fi) when you INITIALLY change the AUX audio from "Line Out" to "Line In". Until it's online, the AUX audio option may not be listed in the app. I was worried this would be the case each time I cabled the Echo from my laptop, so I unplugged the Echo, and then plugged it back in to be sure. There must be a small amount of internal storage within the actual Echo, because it remembers the setting even when it's not using Wi-Fi after the initial setup. The Echo still needs to be plugged into a power source, just like any speaker with a corded or battery power source. So don't expect to be jammin' out from your cell phone aux output while camping in the woods! I use this corded option at work because we have an Enterprise Network, which can only be used if you have Alexa for Business. Aside from my situational obstacles, this was a great explanation of what the 3.5mm aux jacks are capable of. Thank you!

Great video, and you don't seem to have my problem.
