I have used the Amazon adaptor for over a year and I am very pleased with the results. No more buffering problems and no signal loss unless my cable internet is down. My modem router is about 30 feet from the tv in the room furthest away from the firestick set.

Just a heads up if you a Fire Stick 4k owner.. Actually, this adapter will work, but, you won't get above 100 Mbps. It's a 10/100 adapter. You need a 10/100/1000 adapter AND a Cat 6 Ethernet cable. (of course your router needs to be able to go that fast as well). I found one on Amazon for about 15 bucks that is capable of up to 480 Mbps which more than enough for 4k streaming. It's called a Cable Matters Micro USB Ethernet adapter. It has the micro connection for the stick and a USB 2 connection for power, which will work with the Fire Stick wall wart plug. As a bonus tip, since the stick I have is wall powered, this means it's on all the time. So, what I did was buy a iHome Smart WiFi plug and I can turn the stick on or off with my phone. Those are sold online or at Home Depot for about 30 bucks..

Thanks for the info Triple M. After years of saying our family was going to cut the cable we've finally decided to jump in feet first. It's overwhelming right now because I don't understand the lingo and have to research what people mean when they start talking about the difference between 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz along with many other things they talk about, but the latest price increase finally did us in. Can't believe I've been suckered all these years "renting" Xfinitiy's equipment. New Modem's coming and we're putting money into a mesh network in the hopes of eliminating weak areas in our WiFi coverage. This video was extremely helpful. I'm looking forward to watching other ones you have out there to see what I can learn - thanks for help!

Thanks for the informative video Triple M. The reason I don’t recommend the Firestick is its lack of a dedicated Ethernet port and lack of USB ports. And rather than fiddling with an adapter I’d rather just get a box that has a built in Ethernet port in the first place.

I doubled my speed going wired. Pay for 100mbps went from 45 wireless to 97 wired. (Have google mesh x3) so range should not have been as much as an issue as interference. I now have everything I can wired and it’s a way better experience especially for gaming

1 reason some people have faster speed over WiFi instead of using that Ethernet adapter is that the adapter is a 10/100 so the max it can get is 100mbps. Lots of people now have gigabit connections and can get 10x that. Works the same way with internet speed as well as internal Network speed.

Never expected this......I added a Ethernet Adapter to my FS 4K......ran Speed tests and they were WORSE with the E.A. connected then I added a OTG and USB + the E.A. - WORSE yet! I gave up on trying to add a USB to improve things because the degradation of Internet Speed outweighed the increased area for APKs etc.

I have just got rid of Virgin TV and as I already have a Firestick in a spare room, I thought .. easy .. just plus it in and there'll be something to watch on the TV (well, KZbin really) Sadly, the power supply for the firestick is too short, to reach from the TV to the wall socket. The cable into the 3-pin plug is actually a USB. Do I just buy some form of USB extender (for want of a better term) then insert this between the original USB and therAmazon 3-pin plug, or at thre top end .. from the firestick into the TV thanks

I'm paying for 200mbps upload, but get very erratic speeds - especially through my fire stick 4K. But I always get much more than 100mbps. I tried the Amazon Ethernet adapter and could only get 96-97 at best. I switched to a "UGREEN" adapter/hub (which also has 3 usb ports and a mini usb port) and average about 175 or better. The Amazon Ethernet adapter does have a cap of about 100mbps. So, if you are paying for higher speeds be sure to find a third party adapter that doesn't throttle your speed.

It depends where your buffering is coming from. If you are getting buffering from your WIW connection, this would help. but if the buffering is coming from the source, this will not help .

One thing that none of you mention when doing these comparisons, is that the Ethernet port on the Fire Stick allows only 100 Mbps maximum. The WiFi adapter on the Fire Stick allows up to ten times that speed... 1000 Mbps. If you are getting a consistent speed of 100 Mbps or faster on WiFi, then the Ethernet adapter will do nothing but slow it down. Key word being "consistent".

What is the max speed on fire stick? I have 250 internet speed but cannot get any speed greater than 80 for wired or otherwise on my fire stick. I get the full 250 speed on my IPad. So I know my WiFi router works great. Fire stick is 3 feet away from my WiFi.

Hey Tripple M, the reason for your close readings over WiFi and wired may be due to your Firestick's close proximity to your router, if the distance was greater you would more than likely to see the benefits of the adapter.

the wifi connection isnt the issue for most ppl, its the iptv service they are using. only time i ever encountered buffering is through iptv service, not 1 time have any other apps buffered for me.

You may need a stronger power supply to power both the ethernet adapter and the firestick. I have 200 Mbps from Sprectrum. The ethernet adapter is giving me 93 Mbps.

I just received an adapter today and is worthless. My ISP plan is 300Mbps, With WiFi on 5Ghz I'm getting 170Mbps down and still have buffering on Live TV Channels streams. I got this adapter and the MAX it gives is 48Mbps and still buffers . Seller said is not about the speed is also about the ping etc, that even though is showing 48Mbps it should be smoother streaming then WiFi which I'm getting 170Mbps, is it just me or I'm missing something?

Wired connection is not just about speed, it's about stability. For streaming 60 to 80Mbps wired is far better all day long than 300Mbps wifi because you don't need anywhere near 80Mbps to stream even 4K. You can't go any faster on a road that allows 120MPH if your car will only go 60MPH. But with wifi you are sharing the road with other users and if it gets congested you are stop start and slowing to 20MPH. With wired you are the only car on the road, you can chug along with no interruptions. It does not matter one bit if the road allows you to travel at 300MPH, you won't get there any sooner or in video streaming parlance the picture content won't be any better.

@@Triple_M I cancelled my comcast was wasting 200 a month for basic crap and changed to wifi only. 55 a month for xfinity at 100mbs. I got a 3rd party router/modem so It could be the prob. I havnt done the speed check yet I will do when I get home from work. I ordered the Amazon adaptor being delivered today. The only thing that buffers is all the items on Amazon stick if I go out and do just netflix or prime video no issues. I did notice when I shut all the kids devices off gets better so was thinking cheap router/modem maybe upgrade. I'll do that tool check for download speed and try the Amazon adapter see what happens. Can you do a test using iperf3 (client @ the stick and server in your ethernet network inside the home)? That would eliminate any Internet variability and truly test the adapters in the best conditions. I don't think you are getting a true sense of if one is faster than the other if you are relying on the Internet for the test (in fact, I know this is true).

Hey Triple M, Crazy thing is I tried the adapter and for whatever reason it stopped working. I am now running ethernet cable directly to the nivida shield and to the tv...and I still get buffering, can't even see 4k movies, it says the speed is too slow, do I need to tweak the settings on the tv?😲🤔

I think that the fire tv and sticks are so underpowered if your doing and power streaming through kodi. I’d suggest a navida shield which is pricey but significantly better than a fire stick. Along with buying your own modem and router instead of using the low quality stuff the internet companies give you. I do have fire devices because they are a good budget option I use the Ethernet on one of them it helps but it would be better if it was built into the device

I have 600MBS fibre optic internet yet sometimes when I streaming a video on my Fire TV Stick 4K the image becomes pixelated from time to time. I checked with Analiti and it varies between 30MBS and 60MBS rarely goes above that even though I have 600MBS. Analiti shows I have wifi connection at 2.4GHZ so would this ethernet adaptor solve my problem of the pixelated video image?

Mrng. Mr. Triple M., I have a new 3rd. Gen Firestick, it is giving me a fit.. Speed seems to be better than 2nd. Gen.. I think this one could have a problem; I could not get it to accept the Filelinked Apk, I had to go to the Filelinded website, download it from there and put in the Codes, that worked.. So far I can Not get Mouse Toggle to work, I know they used to have one especially for the FireStick, maybe I have a different one?? Any Advice on the 3rd. Gen. FireSticks.. 73, W.G.

Without adapter I get up to 350.00 but I need IPvanish so Speeds are cut down tremendously to 28-31 with Ipvanish and adapter. Wifi the same. Adapter does nothing for me because Ip vanish slows the connection. I bought it to help. You really don't need adapter if you aren't far away from your modem.

I got about 128 on stick 5gz wifi and about 100 on wired stick about the same as my wired old PC. New IPAD + Galaxy 10.1gets about 200 download 5gz. I just got a new Nighthawk router/wifi 600mb on wired ports. Guess the new stuff is better.
