You installed the slide bar WAY too far to the right. That's part of the reason it isn't closing all the way. The leverage point is off.

I needed a professional. It’s hard to shoot video and know what I’m talking about. Ha ha ha. It worked fine though I will say that had no problems I’ve since moved from there and I’m saying they love it and it’s lasted for years. Great little product the colors even nice the finish and the shine to itreally impressed the new owners with how easy it was to use and it solved a problem hooray to $17 worth of heaven

You’re welcome ☺️ I think that that little door closure is “wonderfully designed” and it doesn’t squeak like I originally thought it did. That all went away quite quickly no oil necessary. I love the simplicity of it all but only have one caveat. The closer only closes by slamming with no ability to slow it down right before it closes, which is OK in my opinion as a Locksmith especially for the price compared to 300 to $600 for other door closers this is a bargain for the homeowner. Thank you for your reply and suggesting I view the other video. I did this and found it useful. Can I ask what the tension is like when you first unbox the closer? Does the closer come pre sprung? Can you release the tension and make the closer have lesser tension. I just need a light spring action if that makes sense. Take care Dublin viewer.

@ I was hoping that video explained everything to you. You can apply light tension. It does not come spring loaded as you install it. You load the tension onto the spring by that control arm. @david.thomas.108 now I know what you’re talking about after reading your comment a couple of times well the way that closer works is you have to open the door at least halfway and then the door will close properly. If you only open it like a foot then it won’t close properly and think about it when you walk through a door it’s usually always halfway open so cranking up the power for it to close in 1 foot opening isn’t a good idea then when you walk through it, it slams really hard so the first adjustment is perfect.

@@zionking71 no it can’t but they do have these things called door hold opens and they sell them at Amazon. Let me grab a link. amzn.to/403NRxV Now you can search this they’re called door hold opens and you might be able to find one at a reasonable price. They’re not cheap but they do have many many styles. The old brand that we use in commercial is Glenn Johnson happy hunting good question by the way, watch the rest of my videos for more wonderful door and lock tips and feel free to ask any questions.

I've been asked to solve a minor issue where a light weight door (that's normally left open) is partially closing, then clashing with another door. We're both after a cheap/simple option. If I was to install this device in reverse with a clip to retain the lever, maybe it could suffice 🤔

So let me get this straight you have a pair of doors. One of them is staying open slightly because it’s engaging with the other door that must have the latch strike and you want to hold the latch back so that the door closes easier. It’s probably a way of doing it, but there are other solutions LCN makes the best door closers in the business and you will need an LCN with ADA adjustments so that you can jack the spring tension up on the door closer but slow it down with the hydraulic portion of the door closer through screw adjustments LCN door closers would be your answer, but they are not cheap for instance and LCN 4040 XP is no less than $400 my cost sorry to say everything is so high priced. I understand why you want to hold hold the latch from the latch strike if I don’t understand what you’re talking about please explain better sincerely, MRW

Less tension so all you have to do is barely apply tension to the door closer shaft. It really doesn’t need much to close your door and apply Pemco non-rigid weatherstripping to your doorstop get it from AmazonPemko - S88D18 SiliconSeal Adhesive-Backed Fire/Smoke Gasketing, Dark Brown Silicone, 0.5" W x 0.25" H x 18' L a.co/d/bfjCOvu for the money the door closer is fabulous buy it install it put in the weatherstripping and forget ever being told to close the door again the door will slam closed and has no hydraulics in it but if you make sure not to over crank up the door closer everything will be cool, especially for the money

You know that’s a great idea I didn’t even think about that you are super brilliant that’s what I’m gonna do because it needs some love. It really doesn’t make noise anymore so at first it made a little bit of whining, but I’ll put some great spray lubricant on that bad boy through one of those holes all the holes. Yes it can. I just tried it. This thing is wonderful you don’t have to over power it like I did in the video but in the end I crank it all the way back down to the second adjustment and it works perfect I love it $16.99 can you believe it?

In the month since this was installed, there is no noise or even a hint of whining so I don’t think there’s any lubrication necessary. Great little unit works perfect every time you open the door.

Put some Pemco S 88 non-rigid, weatherstripping that sticks to your doorstop. You won’t have any smashing and set it on the light that you can Spring tension. Everything will be A-OK wonderful in fact.

I purchased one from Home Depot it didn’t work for me my dooor still slammed and now I have holes in the door jam when I take it off and return it Not sure if my door is too heavy or what.

The problem is not the door closer but the stop that the door is slamming against if you would apply some Pemco S88 non-rigid stop seal to the side. The door is hitting against on your door jamb it wouldn’t slam anymore. It would have a cushion effect to the door, stopping all that noise and then adjust your door closer to the lightest spring tension location. a.co/d/0h0iVdj

you know a door closer is made to close your door it won’t stop your door from slamming unless you spend around, $120 and buy an ADA approved door closer then you can adjust the latch speed to close whisper, quiet like in a hospital

I love this thing you do need to use that Pemco weatherstripping though so go ahead and buy it from Amazon with weatherstripping. It’ll quiet the door slamming seeing as this does not have any hydraulics to it but for the money you can’t beat it it has a small footprint there’s no noise an easy to install
