Thank you so much Peter, I love this channel. I own the original Scribe and am very grateful to Amazon for updating these devices with the same new software found in the newer model. I agree, not worth upgrading if you already have the 2022 Scribe. If I didn't, I would buy this one with the 64gb storage and in the Metallic Jade color, which is beautiful. Your colleague, Michael, had mentioned in a couple of previous videos on this channel, that Amazon may be releasing a color Scribe in 2025, which I will certainly be interested in looking at. I would love a color e-ink display with split screen and other features, in a larger screen size. There are certainly other options out there, but I will be curious to see what Amazon does moving forward. Thank you again!

I feel like the Kindle team has become too comfortable and lazy as of late. Just my impression.

My Kindle 1, I think it is better to have screen flush like it has, pen is better here, that eraser is a must, didn't get the update for some reason.

You nailed it that Amazon is "light years behind" the competition as far as note taking. I only got the Scribe due to the trade in of the Amazon dot, the cheaper price of the refurbished gen 1, and the front light. I think it is a nice device, but Amazon has hampered the full potential of the device. I wish they would integrate the books and notebooks closer along with a fast switcher between the last two items so I could have a notebook and a book and be able to copy from the book and paste into a notebook quickly. Hyperlinks in the notebooks, more templates, the ability to add custom templates......so much, but then again I'm not sure that is what they are shooting for. I will keep it as the reading experience is good and it was the least expensive entry way into E Ink for me. Much if not all the shortcomings I was aware of prior to the purchase due to the reviews that were truly honest about them, I say that since too many reviews just come across as people saying only good things and never addressing any faults.

This move by Amazon is going to hurt them in the long run. It's good for consumers that the peo0ple who bought the old Scribe are going to get the upgrade, but I don't see why you'd upgrade. When I heard the announcement that there was a new Kindle, I figured there'd be people on eBay selling their old ones to buy the new one. But there really isn't any need to buy the new one if you have the old one. And I think the only reason you'd want the new one is because you like the color.

Is there any difference in displaying text? Or is it same
@goodereaderКүн бұрын
The outer OUTER screen is apparently a different material. But the display is very much the same

The display on the newer Scribe is absolutely terrible! The screen resolution is WORSE. It is as though there is a pixelated film put over the display, making the resolution LESS CRYSTAL CLEAR. Absolutely terrible!

Such a disappointment across the whole product line, apparently. A pity, as one expected Amazon to be a leader in ebook readers. No physical buttons/Oasis, a faulty colour kindle, an old kindle scribe pawned off as new, an additional color to the basic kindle and minor updates. Newcomers will certainly be happy, but nowadays there are so many alternatives that are definitely more appealing. Lets hope the next round will be more interesting. Let's look at the bright side: those of us who already own a Kindle can be happy: no reason to update.

The Scribe 2 is evidence of the broader issue with e-ink devices. Specifically, the makers of these devices know that they've bumped into a ceiling on the development of the underlying technology and so are left with finding marginal "improvements" that can be made to the software. The problem is that e-ink screens are too slow and too awkward to interact with compared to LCD/OLED tech or even just plain old paper for that matter. For consuming text, e-ink is fantastic (if a bit boring). Doing much else with e-ink is just one round-peg-square-hole after another after another. The "active canvas" of the Scribe is just such an example. Sure, it's kind of cool that you can sort of write in the book but it's not really like writing in a book at all as it's not remotely intuitive or efficient and it's approach is proprietary to Kindle. Ironically, as e-ink devices get more "advanced" it becomes easier to realize their shortcomings.
