Im a truck driver and im going to be extremely blunt and i flat out don't care what the rest of you think. The DOT and the police are to blame for this. Amazon doesn't use their own trucks, they hire third party contractors and just own trailers. Most of these contractors are immigrants who barely speak any english, can't read road signs and have absolutely no regard for safety so they drive like maniacs. The police and DOT typically don't stop these trucks and if i had to guess its usually the language barrier, i have seen these Amazon drivers get away with every single infraction where any other driver would lose a paycheck to DOT fine. This is what happens when you won't enforce laws.

It's very sad the fact that you are 100% correct. Rather than deal with the actual unsafe drivers, most officers will take the easy route and go after the driver that they can communicate with, rather than the one doing 100 unsafe things. It's very frustrating to see the way these amazon drivers behave on the road, and then have me who always is as safe as I can be, get harassed with DOT inspections. Had one officer tell me that he was just recently trained in inspections, and so he is required to perform a certain # of inspections in the month, and that there needs to be a certain number of infractions he hands out. Had me on the side of the road for 3 hours, to give me a ticket for an air leak. An air leak that never lost any air pressure, and never made a sound that my ears could hear. But of course, how am I gunna fight that? There is no way, it's the officers word against mine

About damn time. I'm a truck driver by trade, Amazon and Super Ego drivers are by far the worst truck drivers on the highway. Both companies are primarily contract drivers who lease equipment or bring their own and a lot of the drivers barely speak English much less read it. They get their cdls from these third party schools around the Chicago area where the instructors are bilingual and help them pass the tests. All they have to do is go to the dmv with a piece of paper at that point and they leave with a cdl. It takes 2 weeks to go from having a learning permit to a full cdl. They need to do away with 3rd party schools and have official FMCSA testing sites where a DoT officer is the one doing to final testing and not the 3rd party schools.

Just yesterday I was cursing to myself because I was stuck behind an Amazon truck going 55 in the middle lane on a 3 lane highway with a speed limit of 65. He did this for 6 miles before I finally got fed up and passed him. This is nowhere near as appalling as some of the other things I’ve seen Amazon drivers do in both the trucks and vans but still shows the skill level of many of their drivers! They need to quit hiring steering wheel holders and start hiring drivers!
@mikewashburn12072 күн бұрын
Sounds like they were being cautious! Why wait 6 miles to switch lanes, that’s why they make extra lanes. At least he wasn’t in the left lane!
@koolerstream9212 күн бұрын
@@mikewashburn1207 Driving that much slower under the speed limit is actually dangerous, especially when you are hogging the middle lane. other trucks trying to go the actual speed limit now have to either pass on the right (illegally) or pass on the left, where it is also usually illegal because of truck lane restrictions. Even if it didn't cause trucks to have to pass them unsafely, I remember reading somewhere that a vehicle that is consistently going under the rest of the flow of traffics speed actually causes more accidents and fatalities than speeding does in many cases. Drivers are expecting you to go the speed limit, and they aren't paying enough attention, causing them to get right up to your bumper before they try and change lanes quickly and often cutting people off in the process. I don't remember the number but I think it was 10mph under is significantly dangerous. This is why trucks going slowly up hill use their hazard lights, because they are a literal hazard on the road when going slowly like that. Their 'cautious' driving could cost lives

Multiple times I see amazon truckers driving well over the speed limit, on roads that have multiple red lights. They go in the left lane, ride the bumpers of the cars in front of them, and slam on the brakes when the red light comes. More than once they have smoking trailer brakes, and I have tried to signal to them that they are braking way too hard. They have no CB's and barely pay attention to the road, so my signaling falls on deaf ears and blind eyes. It's scary to drive anywhere near them. Another time there was a tree that fell in the road, me and several other trucks were stuck there until police arrived to help get us turned around. I tried to speak with the amazon drivers, before the cops came, to figure out the best route around to get back on my route. They barely spoke english, and didn't use any GPS except their phone. The driver told me, as best that I could understand, that he had no clue which way to go if he couldn't continue straight on the road, and had no way to figure out what to do. I tried to tell him to follow me, after I figured out a good route around, and after we turned around, as soon as I turned right to get onto a good road for trucks, I see him turning left down a residential street. These guys are a menace on the road and don't properly understand how to drive safely.

Speed really isn’t something we take seriously in a lot of places. Drive through Tennessee sometime… you can drive for miles and never see a sign. I have 3 computers in my truck that tell me how fast to go and it’s not unusual for each of them to be telling me something different. Drive through Kentucky sometime… they have signs but half of them are wrong. I’m not making excuses for bad drivers. The drivers that pull the Amazon trailers are the worst most of the ones I see they can't read write or understand English which by the way is supposed to be a requirement to have a CDL and they're walking around wearing flip-flops and dress like they're at the damn Beach or ready to go to bed which in the trucking industry real truck drivers consider that to be unprofessional. To quote the bonehead truckers KZbin channel, real truckers don't wear flip-flops

Sorry for her loss but what does having a felony have to do with driving?
@TrulaVelez17 күн бұрын
he had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest when the incident occurred. Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest, and Child Endangerment. This is why he took off and attempted to cover up the crime. He should have NEVER been driving in the first place: on top of a suspended license.

@@TrulaVelez1I mean these people got to work too... I rather have a felon working then out here doing the s*** that got him to become a felon in the first place... But at the same time that's the reason why Amazon does third party contract so they don't have to deal with incidents like this...

Amazon attorney is full of something they rather deliver before safety. I know for fact they have third-party carriers and they give team loads to solo driver and expect that driver to deliver next day what does a third-party does they mess with the ELD system? Basically they have a ghost drivers.
