This planet never ceases to amaze me. Hopefully we can take better care of it going forward.

i just came across this video, thank you so much for sharing. I had a copy on VHS that i taped from the Discovery Channel probably 20 years ago. I do agree with the other poster that the original with Michael York narrating was better , but this is still great to watch after so many years.

+ejb: I watched this video on tv show long time before when i was a child. And luckily i was able to get the DVD copy years ago. Yup, the original with Michael York narrating was better, do you have any link can watch it? Thanks

This video glamorises the Amazon. The rainforest and river are thwart with hidden dangers at every step or every minute you are there. The chance that you lose your life, even if you have taken precautions, is unacceptably high. Be fearful of the Amazon. Living there is a survival challenge every day. It is definitely not a picnic. Be able , if at all possible, to deal with emergencies (boat capsizes, attacked by predators, loss of equipment, lost, ambush by desperados, sickness and injury, crushed by broken branches during storms, a flooded forest floor, lack of food / potable water. Good Luck!

beautifull !! collecting fish for aquarium hobby is dream job and very good for enviroment, because fisher men dont need to cut trees and polute enviroment to earn money, they dont want to eat altum angels, discus and other fish because they know how valueable they are and the numbers of fish are still stable for many years because they protect them, i have cardinal tetras and angelfish at home in europe and it very nice to see how they live in wild and how are they collected. Very nice documentary!

I saw this video on TV lots of years ago, then I bought it on VHS and and later on DVD. The music is amazing, but there is no information about the singer nor the song name. It looks like it is sang in Portuguese. It says something about the green forest (floresta verde) golden waters (aguas douradas) and something about butterflies (borboletas). Does anybody know anything about music or when can I get it ? THANKS and greeting from Argentina.

I have a copy of the orignal on vhs. It's a little bit better since it was narrated by Michael York who's soft British accent sounds much nicer. My favorite Amazon documentary.
